Help HammerDown Up!

I have been told that I will be totally disabled for at least 1 year from yesterday. I was given a doctors slip for 6 monthes totally disabled for now. It looks as though I will need reconstructive surgery on my shoulder. They are going to let me use the walker so I can stand and strengthen my back. After 3 monthes, when my back is better, they are going to do the surgery on my shoulder. I need both arms to support me walking for now.

The " ball " inside my shoulder has several hairliine cracks in it, as well as the fractured humorus. I have about 60 percent mobility in my shoulder now, and it doesn't appear to be getting in better.

I cannot lift anything. The injury I suffered to my sacram is very serious so I have told now. If I were to rebrake it now, it could never heal right, and require surgery, I have been advised to take it very very careful.

I am not going to let this get me down. Its Chrismas time, and I am trying really hard to keep my head up. Yesterday was probably the most emotional day I have ever had in my life.

At least I don't have to lay on my back anymore it could be worse. Only thing that sucks is income. I can get social security now, but it takes 3-6 monthes before it kicks in. NICE. I am about at wits end trying to find some type of assistance.

Merry Christmas To All
Drive Safe,
Mike
anybody up for taking up a collection? if we got like $10-$20 from everybody on the boards i bet it'd go a long way....

HD has ok'd this 100% and given his paypal address: 2mcook@verizon.net include your screenName in the 'notes' area when you send your gift.

send whatever you feel appropriate there, just to help a fellow RLF member out. with any luck we'll see him w/ a bottle of JD in the next picture he takes

I'd rather clear it w/ him, first. Some people don't like handouts.

I'd say no. And if you sent me money anyway, I'd be VERY insulted.

People tried to do something similar after my accident, and some wouldn't take "no" for an answer. In my mind, not only did I have to come to grips w/ my disability, but I also had to deal w/ people making my feel like my wants and wishes no longer mattered. That somehow, my disability defined me.

So from personal experience... I'm not going to send him anything unless he's cool w/ it.
