How many warnings have you gotten?

Tonight marks my 8th warning since my last actual ticket, which I got about 5 years ago. Can anybody top that?

And before I give my tips, none of the following ever occured: crying, sexual favors, etc. I did make up once that I had to crap really bad, and was rushing to a CoGos that happened to be a block ahead, and the cop didn't give me any points...but that was my last actual ticket.

Since then, I've gotten warnings for speeding, rolling stops, and tonight, a pretty stupid maneuver that, I admit, I should've been fined for. In the turning lane (middle of a four lane road), and I notice the light ahead changing to yellow. I decide to punch it and hurry across. Why? I figured the opposing traffic had the yellow/red, too. Wrong, they had the green. Not even close to causing an accident, but I did cross on a red, in front of traffic...and a cop happened to be sitting on the road I turned in to, but facing the opposite direction.

Shit, I think, he saw that. I coast ahead and sure enough, damn it, his lights come on.

So, tip 1: pull right to the side of the road. I could've actually continued on, without "running," but I got to the side. Admitted right then that I made a mistake and got caught.

Tip 2: roll down your windows. Turn off car.

Tip 3: When the cops asks, "So what were you thinking?" Answer: "Thought I could get across." Then tip 4, add: "Sir."

"What did you really do?" he asks

"Run the redlight," I say, with a little grin, and

Tip 4: Hand over license and registration, and didn't need to fumble for it.

Tip 5: If you have a significant other in the car, be prepared to hear "blah blah told you so blah blah too fast blah."

Tip 6: When the cops asks: "By the way, son, I see your windows are tinted?"

"Yes," I say. "Sir."

"And what's that?" he asks.

"Illegal."

"Exactly!" he says. At this point, I'm lucky in that I have a smart ass cop, but one with a little bit of a sense of humor. "You know how much," he goes on, "of a fine that is per window?"

"No. Not really sure I want to know." A smile and chuckle.

"Let's see." He points to each of my windows, including the quad doors, and says: "$106 per window. So what are we up to now?"

"Over $400," I say.

"Mm hmm. Plus $125 for the red light you ran. Whoo wee. And the three points. I'll be right back." He saunters away.

Tip 7: Don't swear too loud. Just wait.

He returns and hands my paperwork back. "So, Jonathan," he says, "what are you going to do about those windows?"

"Have them untinted," I say, with no intention of doing so.

"Okay. And red lights?"

"Obey them."

"Good. Oh"--the officer points to my 100 mph club sticker--"and keep the racing to the track, right?"

Tip 8: Remove incriminating stickers, which I did a hour later.

"Yessir."

"All right then. Get out of here. Oh, and happy birthday."

Tip 9: If you're going to run a red light, do it on your birthday.

i got 2 warnings at once...tint + exh...
1 because it was late, and the cop wanted to see if i was drunk

i was pulled over because this stupic cop thought my exhaust was illegal, its bone stock, i told him to go ahead and look under the car, he did and man he must have felt stupid. haha stupid fucking oklahoma cops.

2 warnings since last ticket, one for 62 in a 55, one just a couple nights ago for 52 in a 35, totally didn't see the sign.
but, since my last ticket added up to over a grand, i'm not gonna complain about a warning

and, yeah, being polite to the cop is the best way to avoid the ticket.

10 warnings. 3 tickets. 3 window tint(warning's) in my honda. 7 exhaust warning's for my ranger's. all tix were speeding in rangers. ha.

Haha awesome.

And yeah, Mack, politeness and truthfulness goes a LONG way. One of my old friends, who I don't talk to much any more, once took a road trip to Indiana to get a couple ounces of weed.

On the way home, in Ohio, he got pulled over. Now this kid, pot headedness aside, is intelligent and hilarious. So when the cop asked him, "Anything in the car I should know about?" He said: "Yeah, about 4 and a half ounces of weed. In the trunk. Sir."

And the cop actually laughed.

In the end, they kept his shit, fined him for something, and sent him on his way.

man you got lucky. good tips, you forgot the one about reaching for things super slow after you anounce that your gonna reach for something the cop asks for. and always keeping both hands on the wheel at all times.
