Unhappy Wont Start (weird)

I Have a 2004 Ion Redline at 22300 miles, never had a problem with this car before. Last Night, I drive it about 100 miles to go out (everything is far away in Montana), Drives fine to the destination, drives fine around the city, then I stop for an AM dinner and when I come out and turn the Key, nothing, no crank, but all the electrical still works. I get a service vehicle message accompanied by a power str message. I searched the forums here for the start problem and found some posts about the pass key and ignition switch ( It was very cold, but that has never been a problem before), but none of the codes are accompanied by the power str message. Is one problem capable of causing the other? Are these two problems the result of one malfunction? I found it weird that these two problems are simultaneous in their manifestation. Anyway, after a 100 mile tow, a local shop has taken the vehicle to locate the problem, but no one is very familiar with Saturns here ( there is no dealership in the state). I checked the relative fuses (crank, ignition, power steering, ect) and could not locate a problem there. I am out of idea's, not that I had many in the first place, so any help would be appreciated very much. Thank you in advance.

No. The Passlock light is not illuminated or flashing.

Oh well then I dunno...I'm having the same issues but my pass lock light is coming on while driving. But my battery is reading low on the interceptor, but no battery light on the dash. But if I let my car sit for a while, the battery shows up at the normal levels and starts right up.

have you gotten the cold start re-flash from the dealer? there is a TSB in the "Problems & Troubleshooting" section. You might want to make sure that your car has the latest re-flash, as it deals with cold start issues, and the loping idle when the A/C is on.

Also, you want to make sure that the "Cam Sensor" recall has been done.

Blurryredling has the same problem. He gets the same message. BUT, the Passlock icon is illuminated at the time it happens. That is the "Passlock" problem. They will have to replace your IGN and BCM. Then youll be fine.

Thank you for your help. I will try to call Saturn and see if I can get the above described issues remedied at a local GM dealer. I have had no reflashes. With no Dealership in the state, I hope Saturn will be willing to work with me in finding a local GM dealer to do the work.

Is the Power Str code part of the Ignition problem? or is it likely another issue?
