Arrow 3 days old, and back in the shop!

Hello!I just bought a redline last Monday so I thought I would sign up for the forum and help/get help as much I can. Well, I took the car to get an alarm put on it at Audio Express. They had the car for 7 hours, called me and said its done. I got there and he said I would have to come back the next day cause the installer unplugged my ECM before diconnecting the battery and the car through a check engine light, and airbag light. He said he has a machine to take care of this and it will take 10 minutes. My car only had 120 miles on it at this time. I left the parking lot, went into second, was wanting to pass someone, hit the gas at about 3500rpm still in second, and it seemed like right when I hit boost, this sound came from the engine that just didnt sound healthy. It sounded like high voltage electricity, or like you were taking off in 3rd gear, you know how you get that knock? I know knock comes with gas, and I dont know what kind of gas is in it since the dealer filled it. So I took the car back, they couldnt fix it, said I had to take it Saturn. Took it there, they said my ECM was blown. They took it out, put a new one in, fixed the engine light but not the airbag light. SO venture to say, they are going to have my car till Tuesday because they have no idea what caused this. It just pisses me off because I have yet to have the car a full day! Sorry for the long message, I just had to vent with some people that would understand what Im going through. Well, I cant wait to get to know some people on here! Talk to you later!

Man I can feel your pain but it seems like audio express had something to do with your troubles. There are a lot of saturn techs who know about redlines and some who dont know squat.I always check when they are working on my redline and can usually tell if they know something about the car.One time a saturn tech used the wrong lift and almost broke my plastic molding that runs along the bottom of the car then he was looking under my hood for my intercooler pump to see if it was wired correctly.I knew right then and there he did not no nothing about my car.So be warned you dont want to bug them just be alert and try to watch to see if they know anything about your car and you should learn everything about it yourself.Welcome and good luck to you.

Sounds like it was the alarm installer that screwed up this one. If Saturn wants to charge you for the ECM replacement (which they may, because it might have been the aftermarket alarm installation that caused it to fry), be sure you get Audio Express to pay for it. If they try to back out of it, threaten to sue, because this isn't your fault.

I had some serious issues with the alarm on my SC2. It took Circuit City two full days to install it, and they still didn't do it right. They forgot to install the trunk wire that I specifically asked for (because I have subs) and within 6 months, had fried BOTH of my remotes and refused to replace them. Now my alarm is no longer made (I bought it about 2 years ago) and they won't get me new remotes, even though the first time I brought them in when they were dead, they should have replaced them rather than try and 'fix' them like they did. Them trying to 'fix' it is what totally destroyed the remotes eventually, so now they're telling me I have to pay $50 out of pocket to get new remotes for something that's there fault. I've been fighting with them for almost a year about it now and have gotten no where.

I have a 2-way alarm/starter installed in my redline (installed at saturn though). I do have two problems though. They both arn't a big deal right now, but could be. The first is that gear mesh noise got louder after the install (now, I could've just not noticed it before as I was having fun with my new car) and the second is when I set the car into ready mode (for remote start), the radio stays on the 10 minutes (as no door is opened after the engine is shut off). Within in the next month, I will find out an answer for both of these...sorry, I sort of like talking about myself...but ya, if Saturn charges you anything, make sure Audio Express pays for it in one way or another.

Was there something wrong with your Saturn alarm that you needed to get a different one?

Was that directed to me or to Blub? If it was to me, than yes. I truely hate factory alarms (a friend had their car stolen...a '03 Chevy Malibu...the car was outside as were we and only about 250 feet away from us and we never heard a thing). I needed a remote starter so I figured that I would upgrade my alarm as well. Mine now has shock (including hood, roof and trunk), hood, trunk, doors, and a proximity alert which I can turn on and off with a switch.

MY car didnt have a factory alarm on it. The only thing it had was the keyless entry, and those are so easy to bypass. I bought a Viper 2 way so I know what the status of the car is. I called Saturn today and they said my airbag light might have something to do with the seat belt. I guess something might be wrong with the retractor and thats throwing the light. But the thing that pisses me off is, they are not sure this is the problem, so that means they are just in thre tearing my car apart for what might be no reason. Im thinking about just asking for a new car, has anyone here ever done that?

I know what you are talking about techs not know what they are doing. But the guy thats working on my car has a Redline with some work done to it, so Im hoping everything works out and they dont destroy the car. I hope thats not to much to ask for a car that Ive had for less than a week!!
