What?? You've gotta be kidding me. I don't remember the specific specs, but a Sentra SE-R isn't even close to as fast as a RL, and definitely does not pull off the line as quick. I highly doubt it had 200 ft lbs. of torque.

I think the excitement is the fact that they are going from a 2.2, to a 1.8, without losing any HP. This mainly means increased gas mileage, without a hurt in performance. To us car buffs, it might not be a big deal, but to the general population, it will be.

And that is what I am impressed about.

I see the HP is staying the same, which doesn't really impress me. 140 is pocket change compared to what Honda does w/ 1.8L.

I'm more interested in torque. Did that stay the same?

Well not to jizz in your oatmeal, but what does that have to do with anything. You think the new GM 1.8 is going to be some fucking torque monster. Hell no.

Not to screw your sister and you walk in, but actually the 1.8 has the same power ratings as the 2.2. Also, what the hell do you mean what does torque have to do anything. Are you a freaking ricer?!

Not sure what you're talking about here dude...I'm looking at the Honda site right now. The 1.8L that's in the Civic produces 140 HP with 128 ft. lbs torque. The current ION 2.2L gets 145 HP with 150 ft. lbs. of torque. I won't be surprised to see a little less torque in the Ecotec 1.8L than the 2.2L, but it should be at least on par with Honda's 1.8. Besides, if you've ever driven a 2.2L ION, you'll see that 150 ft. lbs. of torque is more than enough for that car. The IONs are quite peppy. I very much enjoyed driving the sedan we used to have.

That's on the low end. Honda has put out way more than that using 1.8L of displacement (b18c5, for example.) They produced more than 140hp w/ 1.6L of displacement, and that was back in the 90's.

Sorry... 1.8L + 140hp = Not Impressive

But again, I'm not as concerned w/ HP as I am w/ torque, since that's what a daily driver needs most. And 150 ft lbs of torque (at the flywheel) makes for a pretty unexciting car.
