Hello, I am new

I couldn't find a welcome section so I picked what seemed to be the best place. I am in the process of looking for an Ion Redline. I haven't even decided if I should go new or used yet. The car is for my step daughter as I already have enough toys. Some of the cars I have owned in the past are a 94 Supra, 93 3KGT VR4, 89 Testarossa, 93 Del Sol, MX-6 (cant remember the year), 88 RX7 turbo II. Now I am down to a 97 M3 and a 06 Evo MR.

Anyway, what mods are needed to hear the SC whine without giving it too much power as a 16 year old will be driving it?

aahhh VTEC, all the lag, none of the turbo. It's like waiting for bad sex.

If it jams, force it. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway.

Looking to buy a Redline!

I wouldn't put a 16 year old in a Redline anymore than I'd put them in an Evo. Hell, the Evo is easier for an unexperienced driver to control.

Just throw a K&N intake on the car. She will have all the SC whine she wants.

Even stock a 16yr old driver can and probably will get themselves into trouble with this car. It begs to be raced, and can get to 100 without much trouble.

I'd recommend you look for a non-supercharged Cobalt SS, with the 2.4, or perhaps the 2.4 Ion. Plenty of giddy-up.

Especially a 16-year old girl.

But to answer your question, all you need is the K&N Typhoon CAI.

She wants it for the looks, not power. i.e. she wants to hear the SC.

BTW, the Evo is tuned to 528 AWHP. She isn't touching it

(Many will hate me for saying this) But you can get the 2.4 Ion w/ the redline body kit.

I would've loved to have this car when I was 16. I also wouldn't have made it to 24. Since I've owned it, and tuned it, I've come to appreciate just what speed is. 16 + feeling invincible =

If you teach her well, sure you can trust her w/ a car with this kind of power. But it only takes one stupid mistake. Ask CVenom...

Hello fellow EVO owner

I use to own a RL before the EVO.

Shab: A powerful EVO can give lots of trouble through the twisties. Let's say if you lift off the throttle too much into an apex. You can get into serious trouble but for the most part you are correct Shab. An EVO will be able to recover much better in a loss of traction situation versus the RL.

A powerful car can go to a teenager, it just depends on which teenager it gets handed to.

My first car was a 1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD Turbo. I was fine.. didn't crash but I did blow up the motor :X

If his daughter is responsible and mature, i'm sure she will be fine.

You can do damage with any car, pinto or ferrari..

You crack me up man. I mean, come on, they are both cars I wouldn't want a young kid driving, and I know exactly what you're talking about.

PS- PM me if you'd like to hear a little about the 4B11.
