Radar Detector Opinions Please!!

Just got my 3rd ticket today in the RL, 63 in a 45. What sucks is I was keeping up in traffic on a 3 lane road next to a Lexus and Mercedes. I was closest to the cop so I got nabbed. FUCKERS!

So it's time I invest in a really good radar detector, I don't mind spending some $$$ as long as it's worth it. Isn't there one out that the company will pay for your ticket if you get one?? What's everybody have and how do you like it?

I don't even know if I would bother man. They are about to make them illegal anyways.

I mean shit, I have one, and it sure as hell didn't save me from getting pulled over a few times.

Maybe you can get one to hide in your car somewhere and then use a shift light in the "Non functional button hole" Next to the Hazard lights. So that when radar is detected the light comes on and the sound comes through your speakers... That'd be tight....

You said you didn't mind spending money, plus it will work when radar detectors are outlawed...

The best radar detector is your speedometer. Just don't speed.... I barely speed, like maybe 5kph over the limit if that. It's just not worth it in my eyes.

Speedometers suck at being radar detectors... They tell you how fast you were going but they don't tell you when to slow down to the speed limit... I was using my Speedometer as a radar detector when I was doing 130+ down the highway, got popped... even though I was paying attention to my speedometer, it never alerted me that there was a cop...

Looking back on it, if I wasn't paying so much attention to the speedometer, I would have seen the cop when I passed him...

Uh, right.

You should slow down when the speed limit goes down . If you go the speed limit, you won't get pulled over, plain and simple.

+1 on not speeding. . .but for the best radar detector on the market, go on the valentine1 website and cough up the $400 and speed freely. I am going to hardwire it when I buy mine and buy their hideaway screen and mount it where the ION is embossed on the dash trim so I can be sneaky sneaky while having the actual unit tucked up near my rear view.
Valentine1 FTW

I like my Valentine One. They also have an extra piece which will conceal you radar detector. No radar detector will stop you from getting tickets....its only a "early" warning device. If its laser forget it!

I have the escort. I forget the model #. It's the top one, but not the new one with the GPS. I have been happy with it. It has warned me many times and allowed me to slow a bit. However, it is not a guarantee. I have been stopped 3 times. 2 were instant on. I knew about it the same time they did.... The 3rd was an unmarked cop that I pulled out in front of (no he was not close). No radar. I have been lucky with verbal warnings. The 2 with radar may have been verbal warnings because I was able to slow down fast and keep it down. Of course, pull down the detector and hide it before they pull you over. I try to keep it down most of the time now.

+1 on the Valentine...It hasn't let me down yet.

Picks up laser really well, but mine is a little over-sensitive and goes off when I pull up behind a Trailblazer/Envoy/Bravada at a stoplight.
