I pulled out of a mall yesterday and as I made the turn to start leaving, I see a cop trying to get passed all of the traffic behind me. I pull over to the side to let him past but he just sits right behind me. I start to drive off a little bit and he follows me. So I'm thinking I may have ran one of those stop signs all over the parking lot. I pull over and he says that he saw my car and clocked me doing 71 in a 50 right on the highway in front of the mall. I told him I was just leaving the mall and he just said "No I passed you and I was looking right at you". The fucker tickets me for it.

What the hell am I supposed to do about this? The only proof that I have of being in the mall is my friend went to get her hair done and she may have a receipt showing what time her appointment was. And by the time the court date comes along, they probably wont be able to receive security tape footage from that far back, and thats if there are even cameras in the parking lot. I know the judge wont just take my word for it either. My driving record isnt exactly the best. I have 2 points on my license and 2 speeding tickets within 6 months.

Contact the place where she got her hair done and see if they have security cameras or if the mall does. The Wal Mart where I lived by keeps videos for 30 days. They have to keep them for a reasonable amount of time I'm sure so contact them and see if there is anything that can be done.

You could also contact the local police that have jurisdiction over the mall and file a report with them and ask them to go in and review the tapes. To protect and SERVE...this is them serving if they do it.

Just take action RIGHT NOW instead of getting all pissed off about it.

+1 million on jumping on it ASAP. I'm not sure about the ticketing laws where you're from, but I'd say that's borderline not allowed by police anywhere.

Also, if NJ is like OH, you have to have a front license plate. If you do, it should be on the dash cam showing the license plate on the car that he "passed." Also, you should have screwed with him because from here, you have the right to view the gun that he clocked you with showing your speed on it along with the last time it was calibrated.

That's my only concern. The security in this mall is basically just a guy driving around. If getting footage doesn't work, I might have to spend double the amount of the ticket on a lawyer.

Try to get that receipt and look for a time. If it were me, I'd go back and talk to the stylist/hairdresser or whoever and see if they'd be willing to help out with alibi and such.

That's probably my best bet is to see if the hair dresser can help me out.

But what should I do in the mean time? Should I call the court up and plead not guilty to have a court date scheduled?

what time is listed on the citation, and what time is listed on the receipt for the hair appt? that may be your best fight
