alenator problems

i bought a new altenator about 3 weeks ago because mine went and i was hearing a wierd noise coming from my car about 2 days ago i poped the hood and looked and i didnt see anything unusual. So in the morning i picked up my boy and we where driving and i rev the engine a little and ask him if he heres that sound and he says it sounds like something is rubbing but i could only here it from in the car so i said i was gonna take it to my boys shop on my next day off. After work that night we where coming home and we hit the highway i exit and we hear this nasty grinding noise so i pull over and pop my hood and the pulley fell off the altenator and was rubbing on the frame of the car. so i had to pop my supercharger belt off and drive to my boys house . Now they saying the altenators are on back order

After market one for 300 with 1 and a half warranty saturn altenators are 500 plus. I dont understand because the pulley goes on in reverse so as it spins its actually tightening it not making it loose

WOW, at least it's covered and you'll get a new one. But the downtime sucks.
