I'm sorry IMHO cut springs = RICE

It is the cheap, lazy way of lowering a car. Better off saving money, buying a set and DOING IT RIGHT.

^^^ But I wanna be like the honda boys!! and theses aftermarket springs aint cutting it so I'm "cutting" them!

Im about to cut theses progress springs, fuck it!! Is it so hard for the aftermarket manufacturers to make us a spring that gives at LEAST a two inch drop???

Besides if qwikredline says it worked out alright, Ill take his word because he definitely knows his shit...

now i gotta speak up here. I purchased Eibachs after i ran the cut springs, and darn it all the damn car dont know any difference between the two! And as it (the Redline that is ) cant talk, (well it can make nice sounds and all but no words) so in fact, the only person who knows "are they cut or are they eibachs?" is me. Looking at it the car you cant tell, you have to crawl under the car and look for grey colored springs to know i have eibachs now. for what its worth....and rice? hey what ever floats your boat, you could always try the other css forum...lol and i think the honda looks cool its just the ride is stupid junk no wheel travel...and i could not drive a car like that

I know someone was gonna come in here with the rice bullshit , the whole point of this thread isnt about being cheap it was because the drop for the car wasnt low enough.

then cut two complete coils front, exactly the same position for the cut as the top coil end....you will need to shim the rack at least 10 mm to compensate (you cant go more you will crash into the motor mount) and the car will ride like crap...not enough wheel travel.....

I wasn't trying to piss anyone off. I was just voicing my opinion (I do have the right to do that, right?). I have had (not on this car) cut springs, sleeve coil-overs, and Eibach Pro-kits. I learned that sleeve coil-overs although cheap and shitty are better and less bouncy then cut springs and aftermarket springs are way better then sleeve coil-overs and cut springs. I learned from my mistake of cutting springs and have vowed to never do it again and to try to talk anyone out of doing it themselves.

I have had friends that have cut their springs and have had them break, slip past the lower collar, and one even had an accident due to his springs breaking and he losing control of his car.

I just don't want anyone to make the same mistake as they have is all.

I thought the point of aftermarket springs was not just the drop, but the fact that they're stiffer than stock. I would think going over a dip in an aftermarket spring car would be fine, while a chopped stock spring would give too much and possibly bottom out.
