where did my reverse lights go?

my reverse lights stopped working and i checked the fuses and there fine and the bulbs are good, i really dont want to bring it to the dealer for just reverse lights when they fuck u for 100 a hr just to look at it... anyone know what to do from here?

is there some sort of sensor in or around the shifter or tranny? that not working, or like all4glh mentioned, not grounded, could cause the problem.

Should be a sensor on the tranny housing that engages when the reverse gear is selected. Don't remember the name of the sensor. Call Saturn parts dept. and ask what it is and see if you can locate it. Should just screw in and plug up.

yep, they're common to go out, at least somewhat. I already replaced one and it's been fine since. should be on the driver side on the back of the trans, two wire connector. can't remember the size wrench you need but want to say between 13 and 15mm. takes like 5 min to swap out if that.
