Not to sure, I know they clened out the water and put a brand new on in. but not sure what they did to stop it from falling out. I will call them and check it out for you on my lunch break.

the trunk is not actually completely seald... when you open it, look and there are two seperate parts to the lid. in heavy rain or a good car wash, some water will get in there but it is supposed to run off to that side and evaporate out, or run out the wholes in the bottom of the intereior piece to the lid. look around your key hole on the trunk, theres not even a seal around that.

I can describe better if you need. Sorry if this is somethin common, i just duno what it is.
In my honest opinion, although it is not fact. I believe that this is a safety measure for ventilation. Why> rear mounted battery. Think NHRA how sealed boxes need to be ventilated...

some food for thought.

The trunk isn't sealed by any means... lol

Also, vehicles with the battery up front can have the trunk vents too lol

Our batter is vented by two hoses to the under side of the car.

Anyways, OP:They repleaced replaced part number 22720113 (some vent thing, it might be the hole plastic vent that you see) at it cosed the warrenty service 7$ so it should only be like 10$ form the parts department.

I'm pretty sure that the hoses you speak of that are at the bottom of the trunk (in the spare tire well) are for water build up. Most cars have that. And I stand behind what I said about the side vents.
