lifter sticking maybe?

i just recently bought my redline two months ago and i noticed yesterday that a ticking noise was coming from the passenger side of the block. my dad thought it might be a lifter sticking but obviously i havnt worked on this car before so i dont know a lot about it. does anyone have an idea what this noise could be?

welcome to the forums.

Search tensioner noise. or timing tensior. Something of the sort should give you the info you need.

yes, timing chain tensioner...especially if it sounds like a diesel

Subscribed.

Is the tick always there? I have had the same issue recently and mine seems to be worse when fully warmed up.

when my timing chain tensioner went, it would intermittently clatter just like a diesel at idle. it would consistently do it on a "hot restart" meaning, drive it for 10-15 minutes, shut it off for half an hour and fire it back up and let it idle.

with the hood up, it sounded like it was coming from the passenger side of the engine, but i wasn't able to locate the sound just by listening closely

do either of the people in this thread who are looking for the answer have the capability to post up a video or sound clip of their noise so i can hear it?

our injectors do tick rather loudly, but you really only hear them if you're standing in front of the car with the hood up, not from inside.

you can use a screwdriver as a stethoscope to listen to specific parts of the engine. put the tip of the screwdriver against the part of the engine you want to listen to and put your ear on the handle.

the timing chain tensioner is a big 32 mm bolt on the passenger side of the engine bay, firewall side of the engine.

ya it does make the sound all the time and it does seem to be louder when is warm. i just took it to the dealership yesterday but im 10 miles over my warranty which really sucks so i have to figure something out. it also does kinda sound like a diesel. i also heard it could be an exsaust valve leak? thanks for the help get back to me if anyone knows anything else
