Where did the paint go???

So I wash my car and I go to put tire dressing on and I notice that my calipers have soap residue on them. Upon further inspection I notice that the factory paint on the calipers (silver) has washed off!!! Not only that, but I notice that my discs have rust on them. Anyone else ever have this problem??? I haven't even had the car a month. WTF?

Rotors are Mild Steel. They'll rust is a few seconds. Just drive a little and use the brakes and it'll be gone.

Nice. Thanks. Now how about the calipers? Should I call Saturn Service and see if they will repaint. The car isn't even 3 weeks old.

Do our calipers even come painted? They've always looked like an unpainted metal surface ever since I've had mine....

I have the comp package. They might have painted them for the package.

I called them about it and they started to freak out like my car was going to explode (I guess it's better than the alternative). I explained the paint had been washed off as it only came off after I washed the car. They stated that they would have to have the car ASAP and make sure that everything is okay. I told them I could not do it on that day and they turned around and scheduled an appt for August 31st (ASAP?). Anyway I have an appt and they sounded cool about it. We'll find out. I just hope they don't try and blame me for it.

They probably were so concerned because brake fluid eats paint. They must want to VERIFY that there's no fluid leaking.
