Post How do I tell what stage RedLine?

I need to know how to tell what stage my RedLine is in because I need to buy a new clutch for it. Right now it's in my uncles possession but ill be getting it soon but I was wondering how I'd tell what stage it was in and what the different stages mean! Any help would be great I'm new to this site and hope to learn a lot of new things and help with what I already know! BTW it's a 2004 Saturn Ion Redline w/ air lift. I can post my uncles video if that would help determine what stage the cars in!

Stage kits usually mean four things.

1. Tune = you cant see unless you have HPT
2. smaller belt or larger/adjustable pulley tentioner = hard to tell
3. smaller pulley = stock is 3.3ish and black if I remember right. Stage2 stock is 3.1ish and black from GM but may be different if from aftermarket.
4. Different Injectors = tops will be different colors I cant remember the colors but im sure someone will chime in. Prolly easiest way to tell unless it was done wrong and the above was done without the other.

Over stage2 you will see other cooling mods if done right. Meth/second IC/exhaust.

They are well worth it. I had my stage2 done from GM for about $600. I had them match o.t.t.p they originally wanted $1200 I told them they were crazy and showed what I could get the kit for online and they matched it.

So do Ions automatically come with stage 1 done to it because all the clutches I'm looking for are stage 1 and up. If anyone can help me it'd be great because its hard to contact my uncle considering he doesn't have a cell phone

GMPP offers a really nice clutch upgrade for us it can be found here Home Page Redlines come stock, idk if a stage 1 is sold anymore you need stage 2 or 3 to see some significant gains.
If it has a boost gauge and you can tell us what boost is wide open we will know if it has a different pulley than stock. Pictures of engine bay will also help.

Don't you also need to replace the slave cylinder or likely have problems?

Ill be buying most of my stuff from AndysAutoSport as they have a variety of brands and have just about everything and anything ill need to fix it up and add things to it! Thanks everyone for the help and I will be sure to tryin get a pic of the engine bay soon! Going up to see it on the 28th!

1: engine stage "kits" have no relation to clutch stage kits.
2: the gmpp clutch kit (above, CED is best place) covers 90% of red liners needs and is fairly priced. Iirc it also includes the new slave when ordered from CED, all you need additionally is flywheel bolts and Trans fluid.
3: good luck getting the correct parts for our car from AAS.

The GMPP Stage kits had nothing to do with the clutch. They were a tune, injectors, pulley, belt, and the multipass cooling plate (if I recall correct on the last one.. stage 3 may have had a tad more).

You can put whatever clutch you want to put in your car at any time.. providing it's made for the car... Also, make sure you check out Crate Engine Depot instead of AAS..they won't steer you wrong.
