I owe you guys an update... **2.2 S/C Eco w/pics, Vids & Dyno #'s**

Well I should have made this post long ago. If anyone remembers I made a post a while back about buying an ion redline engine to swap the S/C related items into my 2.2 ecotec cavy.

Well the setup has been done for some time and I have some results and vids, thought you guys might be interested (some seemed to be on my first post)

So the current setup stands as the an intercooled Eaton M62 from a redline using the stock S/C pulley (hits 10 psi). I used a heat exhanger purchased off ebay. Also using an Greddy emanage to control fuel and the redline injectors. I really haven't done anything else except suspension work to the car and a lower engine mount, exhaust still stock as well.

Heat exhanger behind the front bumper...

Close up of the heat exchanger

Car dynoed at 218whp & 202 ft/lbs of torque. (Graphs below)

This graph shows my baseline dyno (car w/intake only), my s/c hp and also the upper line is the boost level (9.5psi)

Dyno video:

Please Right click save as on all vids to save my bandwidth...

My best quarter mile time on my daily street tires/wheels is:

14.225 @99.65

Made one pass earlier in the year on some borrowed drag radials and ran a 14.20 @97.4 Reason for improvement on street tires... The 2.2 tachometers are slow. So I didn't think I was hitting my rev limiter but I would bog going into second and couldn't figure out why. (Fuel cut at top of first and bogged second, also temps were cooler on my 14.225 run)

Some videos:

Street tires with some wheel hop, I beleive this was a 14.3 run

14.2 w/drag radials from sideline

Same run from in my car...

Lastly a couple of AutoX vids:

Sorry for the long post but hope you guys enjoyed it.

Winter mods for the car should prove promising, 13's are comming

Relocate that battery and get rid of that intake. It looks restrictive.

I agree, it's sucking up some hot air too.

Very nice work. That's a hell of a sleeper.

you can get some nice cams for that car too, oh yea and it would be easy to mod an aem short ram for that car. I had one in my cavy and it pulled all its air in from the inner fender so you dont get all the engine heat.

Very nice man. It looks like that project is really coming together and working out real well. Your car weighing at least 150lbs less than ours is definetely helping out your times. That exhaust that you had on the dyno looks WAAAY too small. That should definetely be your next move.

I think you're the guy that stopped by all our RLs at Milan back in July? There was that LOONNNG wait to run and you were there waiting in front of where we all parked. If you're the same guy, you definetely know what you're doing. I was pretty impressed about what you knew (which is definetely more than me) and impressed by what you had done to that thing already. Keep it up!

Jpapa,

Yes, that would have been me. I was there with my friend Mike, I believe that event was called StreetWarriors put on by Kumho Tires. I remember you guys, I was hoping to meet up with all of or see you guys run later but it was just way too busy. It started to rain and almost everyone left but they only shut the track down for a lil bit. Mustered up a 14.5@97 that night after everyone left. Thank you for the comments, much appreciated. I put a lot of time and research into this setup before going ahead with it.

As you stated I am a lil bit lighter which is helping me. This winter I plan on changing the intake as some stated, (I do plan on moving/relocating the battery) upgrading the exhaust, smaller pulley and probably some water injection to keep the s/c cool.

The setup wasn't terribly difficult to do. The part requiring the most fabrication was probably the adapter plate for the throttle body. J-bodies use a cable opposed to a drive-by-wire like the LSJ. I'll try to find one of my progress posts on j-body.org later if I have time.

Thanks for the comments guys...
