Tire place broke my shifter...

Forgot abou this story!!!

So I just got a set of new tires. I'm waiting at the place for them to pull my car into the bay. I watch them go out, start the car, and then it just sits there. The brake lights come on a few times, I can see them revving it (from the exhaust in the cold), and after a few mins I yell out "Hey, you gotta pull the knob up!". Mind you, this is the second person trying to move the car. He yells back that he is pulling the ring, and he dosen't know what's wrong.

Get out to the car, open the passenger's door, and grab the shifter. IT FLOPS ALL THE WAY FORWARD AND HITS THE A/C BUTTON!!!! Flops back the same amount. No tension, no shift, no SHIT.

So, I start yelling at the first guy pretty good, since he admitted it went 'limp' when he was yanking it. So, it's about 25 degrees outside, and me, and the second guy had to remove and reinstall the shifter. In the dark, without tools, and with no instructions. Took us about 30 mins... For those of you that have installed it, he jerked on it so hard, that the lower of the two plastic shift cable 'clamps' had popped off the shifter shaft AND off the shifter cables...

Point being, it might not be as funny as you think, that they can't get the car into R...

I was all paid at that point, they did give me $40 off for making me show up the day before. I'm sure if I had pressed the issue, I could have, but I was going on hour two at the tire store as it was, and they have ALWAYS treated me right there. Before this time at least. So they got a 'credit' in my mind.

I've read the car isn't pulling anymore after new tires, and now the shifter got mauled while getting the new tires. But I haven't seen you say what tires you bought. I'm curious since you think the dunlops suck.

Oh no, I don't think they suck, if it wasn't for the snow, I would have kept them on there.... They will go back on for my driving school and a few drag runs this spring. They're pretty worn. In the snow, they were death waiting to happen.

I got some all season Falken Ziex ZE512's 225/45/17's. Not as responsive, but that's a results of being all season too...

Car dosen't pull AT ALL now.

Dude..

How hard do you have to yank to pull the whole shifter assembly off?

Those are some dumb ass tech's. Didn't it occur to them that they dont need to pull that hard to get a car in gear?

I would of been P-I-S-S-E-D.
