Lemon process has begun...

That's right. Yesterday I contacted Saturn headquarters because of my tranny issues. My car has 0nly 19,400 miles and I'm having tranny problems for the THIRD time! First problem was at about 4K, had that fixed. Next time at 8,200 and had a new tranny put in. This time it's the same old story. My problem is that when trying to put the car into first when taking off, it sometimes won't go untill to pound the piss out of it. Or sometimes it will go, but about half-way through it feels like it's catching on something. In other words, I'm not real impressed. I haven't heard of anyone else having even this close of a problem with any part of the car. I hoping to get it replaced with an '06 Comp model, but that is more a wish than anything.

Are you going slower then 20mph when trying to go into first? Or it doesn't want to go in the gear even when the car is turned off?

justin, sounds like its too late for you, but if I ever have trouble getting it into first, i just go into third and then real quick into first and that seems to be really smooth. No offense but i dont think i'd ever "pound the piss" out of anything I paid over $15 large for. But thats just me.....

Incorrect. Each state is different. I have filed the lemon law on my RL because of my pulling issue and Maryland law is 4 times.

Not trying to sound ignorant, but Justin, is this your first manual vehicle?? Cause usually you don't slam the piss out of anything, especially if the car is your DD and its supposed to last. I would try not slamming it, releasing the clutch, moving the car back to neutral and going from there. Mine has been a little resistent before and that tends to solve it, usually just the clutch not engaged all the way or something?? But i'm with RL2005, too much money invested for me to pound the piss out of it... hell, I don't even like to slam the plastic doors.

It's happened to me a few times where it wouldn't go into first. Clutch to the floor and it wouldn't go in after 3 tries. My solution...second gear start. It went right into first the next time around.

Does the manual state that you must put the transmission into second before going into first? Some will state that and if it wasnt followed, they may fight it. But, they cant prove it .

Sounds like a bad synchro or linkage issue.
