Buying a demo.........yes or no?

A dealer near me has a demoed R/L with less than 3500 miles on it. It has been driven by the service manager since new.

Would you guys buy a demo, considering it is a sports car?

I wouldn't, there is a better chance it was abused.

the service manager would treat it the worst. If you do get it. be sure to add in the contract first free clutch replacement and install is free along with the 100000 mile warranty.

exactly how do you figure that? I know more than one service manager and they all know how to properly treat cars for break-in

I think what he's saying is that the Service Manager is just as likely to beat on it as anyone else. Not saying he would try to break anything, but sure might push the limits with it a bit more. I think if you get a good warranty, and the car looks and sounds good, go for it. Just remember that you're getting a demoed car. Was he the only one that drove it, or was it also the test driver?

I know that the main test drive RL at my local dealor was a demo for the sales manager, who I also know, and he made sure to break in pretty quickly and properly so he didnt have to worry about selling people lemons cuz they tore up RL's in test drives

I know I beat the hell out of the one I test drove. I took a close look at the one I test drove before hand as well and it had been throttled previously to me driving it. The front tires were feathered and worn and the car only had 250 miles on it.

by me they let me test drive a demo one. they had to change the oil and it had like 300 miles on it . the sales guy said " everyone had there turn on this one". drove fine, but i would rather get the one off the show room floor that hasnt had 300 of its first miles on the road beaten to death.

There is nothing wrong with buying a demo. I work at a VERY large dealership which sells Porsche,Mercedes,Jaguar,VW,Mazda,Dodge,Buick,Chrys ler and Jeep and there is alot of salesmen and other people who drive different demo's about every 3,000 miles and i know them all pretty well and they treat the car like they were driving someone else's car.(its not theirs anyways lol) None of these guys whip the cars. Look at it this way....no break-in period and the car is still under warranty of course. So no biggie, if something goes wrongs with your car which i don't think it will the warranty will cover it with only under 3500 miles. I would buy a demo in a heartbeat! Go for it dude!

^^^^I agree. I understand anything can be mistreated, but cars are built to handle test drive abuse. You don't build a fast car and not think people aren't going to try and beat the piss out of it. Just keep an eye on it and wrap yourself in the comfort of your warranty. That doesn't mean every light is a christmas tree and every car is trying to pull on you. Drive responsibly. And have fun like everyone else here does with their (however) new Red Lines.
