Not a big fan of the new GTI but love the marketing. Autoweek.com did a write up on their new marketing. The two different types of commercials, the unpimp your ride and the "Fast" character. Someone sold one on ebay for like $700. Apparently VW is sending anyone who buys a GTI a "Fast."

hmm I need to buy a GTI if that's the case, I know the 700 bucks per fast is actually pretty typical, those things are HARD to find now. Buy a GTI, sell the fast, and then sell the GTI bwahaha

wow anyone look at the weight of the GTI??? The thing is a freaking BOAT, something like 3300 lbs. The specs aren't too bad minus the weight... pricetag is similar to a RL and so are the specs (depending on what the whp actually is). but DAMN 3300 lbs!

Here is leftlanenews.com link that has all 3 on one site.

Also, if you go to www.vwfeatures.com, you can make your own MkV GTI and they will give you an online test drive of YOUR car..all the features you put in, it shows you them, you didn't put something in it, they won't show it. Also, when designing your car it updates your 0-60 time and your drag coefficient which I think is pretty cool.

The thing I like about the VW commercials is they're not hypocritical. You dont' see too many VW ricers out there... so definitely gotta hand it to them on that, they're attracting the right crowd.

and is aw the same thing about the test drive, it's pretty cool

See GM that is how you market a "tuner" car

GGrrrrrrr. Don't even get me started on GM's marketing - or total lack thereof, if you judge by effectiveness.

Those commercials are great. The GTi is not. I posted up somewhere on here about my discussion with tehh VW guys and a testdrive of the thing. Price is NOT competitive with the Ion - base $ a couple grand higher. Biggest gripe aside from the insane curb weight is the total lack of an LSD, stock or optional. The paddle shifter makes it ever so slightly slower off the line, but .07 second upshifts make that up REAL fast.... Twin clutch rules. But it's heavy.
