Thick gauge electrical wire (ie ground wire)

Ok I'm looking for thick (copper?) electrical wire for grounding. Anyone have any ideas where I can pick some up (preferably a spool) and thickness I believe 20 Ga?

Any electric supply company or hardware store or home center (Home Depot, Lowes, etc) will have it. For the car I would recommend braided copper not solid copper.

What are you grounding? 20 ga isnt very thick. Aluminum is a better conductor but I dont know if you can get it that small.

20 gauge is tiny. You aren't grounding much with that. Think about wire for iPod headphones. That is 20 or 22. Household power cords are going to be in the 10 gauge department, That big thick black wire that grounds the battery in the trunk is about 2 gauge, maybe zero.

But anyways, check out any auto parts store. they have lots of wire. I would get stranded copper. Alumnium is good but harder to find stranded.

it couldn't be zero gauge, *maybe* two gauge. my power and ground wires for my amp are 4 gauge and they are almost the same size.

try here for cable: http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage....ctGroup_ID=478

Indeed - 20 is VERY small. The factory power/ground wires are 4 awg. I can get you whatever you want, but you might find it cheaper elsewhere....

Like Z said - what are you grounding?
