2 things (help needed on one)

1st thing.

Took another test drive on a RL. Damn I love that car... I didn't even push on it, 1st gear sucks like with every car, but so nice so nice :P now if I could just get one of my own....

2nd thing and most important.

How can you prove rollback on a brand new car?? This is the deal, this dealership has had this RL on their lot for over a year at this point. I SWEAR when I testdrove it like 4 months ago it had 400 miles on it, I SWEAR. I could be wrong, but my memory isn't that bad typically..... It definitely had a lot of test drives as pretty much anyone in the pittsburgh area that was RL searching test drove it (brk_05 and slsduke82 included). Anyways they shipped it off to their sister dealership (same automotive group, different location) when I went to check it out today, it just BARELY had 200 miles?!?!?! They definitely would have driven it the 15 miles from the other dealership, I couldn't have been that wrong could I have been??? I honestly am thinking they rolled back the odometer (how exactly you can do that, I would think would take a decent amount of work with the digital speedo, but they would profit off it if they shaved off 500 miles of 'test drives').

So anyways is there anyway to prove tampering? regardless of how much effort it would cause is there ANY way? computer logging of true mileage, etc etc etc? This is super fishy and I can't honestly believe THE dealership test drive car only got 200 miles of test drives in like 15 months... especially when I SWEAR I remember more.

anyone have thoughts on this?

thoughts from brian and jon on what the miles were when you test drove it would be appreciated. thanks.

I can't think of 1 reason a new car dealership would roll a odometer back. There is no difference in the price for 200,400,600 miles. Since it was a demo the buyback program does not apply. I would think they would not roll the mileage back because there is not any money in it for them nor will it cost them anything. If they did roll back, they are the dumbest and shadiest dealers in the world, period.

I can't either and I was thinking the same thing, but I could SWEAR I remember seeing 400 miles on that odometer becuase that was one of the things going through my head when I was first considering the deal. It just doesn't add up that there could only be 200 miles on it as well, I know of QUITE a few people that would have test driven it for solid 5-10 mile test drives plus whatever other miles that would have accumulated over 15 months.

I'm just worried about other cars that they'd be selling, which is why I'd want to check, because that'd be ridiculously shady and lawsuit worthy..

unless you know the original vehicles vin for comparison, there's really no way for you to know if they monkeyed with it

It is imposible on digital odometers. the old ones the numbers would be a little off if you really looked at them.

well no, i know as a 99.9% fact it IS possible to rollback digital odometers. I've heard it's really hard, but nonetheless possible. let me see what ic an dig up.

and dan i have zero desire to pay 19k for a car that's only worth 15k, eventually the dealers will wake up ;p gotta have patience in the meantime
