is the 06 the last run of the Ion? is there something replacing it or is the line just dying?

Looks like it may be the end. The Ion will have an '07, but the Redline looks as though it might not.

When does the "Astra" Ion or evoke or whatever the hell they're gonna call it start? '09?

EDIT: Looks like it will be called the Astra and Saturn will probaly just rebadge the Astra as Opel is doing to the Saturn SKY. Check this out:

Seriously?!? That's retarded. I'm pretty sure they'll call it something different than the Opel version. I honestly do see any reason why they won't stick with the 'Evoke' idea.

Plus, I highly doubt there will be IONs labelled as 2007 models. Production stops on all IONs in June of 2006, unless something has changed recently that I'm unaware of. We've heard reports that they've already stopped making RLs.

I think the Ion is one of the best looking cars on the road and if they ACTUALLY marketed it they would sell

do yall think i could get a good deal on a new one this summer then? i mean it sucks that they are getting rid of the RL but it could work to my advantage. but i know that RLs are kinda a diffrent case in general. i remember in late 04 they were cheap as hell, but i dont know if a thing like that would come back. what do yall think?

Yes, there are going to be 07 Ions. Production should be starting around this time next month. Productions ends December of this year on the Ion, and whoever told you that the RLs have stopped production is full of shit. This is what I've been told from people who actually work at the Saturn plant.

OK, well, what I said was I heard reports. I didn't say I had anything concrete. And I also said that last i heard production was supposed to stop in June. Since when did it get extended till December? I hadn't heard that at all. Saturn Corp's been saying for months that 2006 will be the last model year for the IONs. Maybe if they have extended it for now, there's still hope that it'll run through till the changeover in 2009. Maybe?
