Wrecked my RL

So in a parking lot last night I slid right into a curb at less than 10mph. Snapped the drive shaft at the trans and broke the knuckle into 3 pieces. Bent my brand new winter rim too. I hope there in no frame or trans damage but the dealer is going to take a look at it tomorrow. I have pics and will post as soon as I figure out how to.

ouch. sorry to hear that, dude. That is such a crappy feeling. Hopefully no frame damage. How did that happen at <10mph? Obviously snow was a factor, but was there ice, too?

Wow

That really sucks hard. I am sorry to hear about that.

It seems like everyone was somehow caught off gaurd by the snow. People were all over....especially in west bloomfield

I did the SAME exact thing last year. Same relative speed and everything. Plumbers were working in the area and flooded the street it iced over and I didn't see it or expect it as we hadn't had any rain/snow anything for weeks. Hit it, slid into the curb and bam 8k later I have the car back. Just wait till they get it on the rack. If your rear tire hit anything kiss that torsion beam suspension bye bye. When it happened I don't think I was on this site. I was on Saturnspeed.com and yeah....gruesome. No frame damage or anything but they had to do both knuckles up front (the impact jabbed it into the other side too) I think they did both axles, 3 wheels, engine cradle, etc....It was just a sonofabitch.

Luckily I went after the plumber and won the case. Didn't pay anything out of pocket for it. Good luck with that I bet it's going to be more expensive than you think.

That's the reason I bought a winter car and refuse to drive the redline in winters any more. I really question the integrity of the vehicle when a curb can do that kind of damage. I've heard of crumple zones but this is f'in ridiculous.

Just seeing that snow makes me cringe. I had 22 years of that stuff and I am now happy to be in a warmer environment. I don't miss that white stuff one bit. Especially at times like that.
