Never heard/seen an ECOTEC chain failure as a "root cause"

Only time I've ever seen or heard of the chain snapping is from a dropped valve or the cam's rotation was seized for some other mechanical reason- then somethings gotta give.
Might as well be the chain- it's the least of your worries by then anyways

Wop

I've personally seen quite a few early 2.2L ecotecs have timing chain TENSIONER failure. Haven't seen a problem with a engine after 2003, though. Never heard of a failure on the LSJ, either.
