How To Remove The Aero Spoiler

[quote=Disclaimer]*THIS WILL NOT WORK FOR THOSE WITH A SMALL SPOILER* <==(You have extra holes that have to be filled)
The aero deck lid holes look like this: "o"
The mini-wing deck lid holes look like this: "(o)" (kinda weird, huh?)
*I recommend using Widgets, if you have a small spoiler. They

you can get a wire called piano wire at any local body shop supply that will work alot better than fishing line but you have to very careful with it ,,i took a steel fishing leader and cut the plastic coating off from it and used that, it was a 12 inch leader and very gently worked it a lil bit at a time using a paint stick to push underneath the wing base to keep upward pressure on it. hope that helped

Reasons to keep the wing:

1. - It looks kinda cool. If you're into that kinda thing. Personally, I like the cars natural belt line - especially with the two-tone I'm doing with black roof rails - and I think the big wing detracts from it. But to each their own I guess.

2. - See 1. There aren't any other possible reasons, unless someone can tell me how much downforce it actually makes at what speed and whether or not those will be my cornering speeds on a roaadcourse. They sure as hell aren't in Solo II, lol.

Reasons to lose the wing (not counting personal preference of rappearance):

1. - Weight - it's an extra 15-20 useless not-helping-anything pounds.

2. - Drag. Not much - but I bet it's worth more than a couple of pounds of wind resistance that I don't f'ing need.

3. - Rear visibility. Seriously - could it be at a worse height for people who actually use the rearview mirror?! I don't think so... Annoying as hell.

4. - Cop magnet. "Hi - I'm a FWD sport compact with a huge-ass spoiler on the wrong end of the car! PLEASE follow me EVERYWHERE I go, 'cuz you just KNOW I'm a punk streetracer, officer!" Seriously - I've never had so many cops drop back to be behind me, or pause before going at a green so I end up in front of them, or straight flip a U-turn and follow me. FUCK it's annoying.

5. - Completely defeats the "sleeper" effect of the car. The RL has some of that with the wing, 'cuz it's a Saturn lol, but it announces to the world that either this car is quick, or at least the owner thinks it is. So I have people rev at me if they're into the sport compact scene (I don't street racce and this is yet another annoyance) or make sarcastic comments about the spoiler if they're not. Most of the compliments I get on the car - quite a few - are followed by a "but what's with the ricer wing?" or something similar. A few people dig it - they're the minority, though. And this also brings us back to #4, because if being bright blue and sporty isn't bad enough, the wing seals the deal, lol.

6. - All of the above repeated, lol.

But to each their own, I guess. Even if I liked the look - which I don't - the rest would outweigh the asthetic aspect for me. IF I decide I want a spoiler, it'd be one of the hangs-off-the-back-edge types. they look better, dont' attract QUITE as much negative attention, and don't block rear vision.

the number one reason for the wing on the redline and the cobalts was to attract the younger generation into buying the cars to compete with honda and the like..the cars are semi quick but they are not that fast where they would need a wing to stabilize the rear of the car,,so basically it was eye candy for the younger generation of car buyers..lol
