sticky? : how to install front and back grill(s) and my style foglights... sticky? : how to install front and back grill(s) and my style foglights...

ok it really depends on what you get but i recomend the stuff at pepboys or some auto store, because they are cheap ($30) and look and are sturdy for your looks to $ spent, and one thing will do the front and the rear and still have some left over.

steps: (if i forget something let me know and i will insert it in here where ness.)

1) jack up one side of the car to make it easier to crawl underneath. and dont forget the jack stand just incase your jack fails for any reason.

2) crawl under the front lip of the car and on the bottom of insert there are 4 9/32 screws to be removed first then, on the top push the clips (color of the car) down and pull the black insert toward the rear of the car and the bottom push the cllips up and pull the insert towards the rear of the car. on the sides push the clips whichever way they release the insert and pull out towards the rear of the car.

3) once you have the black instert out, take and put it up on a counter or on the ground in an open area whichever is easier.

4) (only if you are doing the side peices) (only on the cars w/o the comp. package w/ fogs) if you are doing the side peices and you have the wanna be looking vents then you wanna take and use a drill first and use the biggest size big you can get, to make it less cutting wit a razor blade, and drill some holes around the edge of the trim. then cut out the rest of it with a razor blade and be very careful not to cut yourself or cut the trim to hell.
you want it too look like this when done (just ignore the mesh for right at the moment) or you can use a dremel if you can get in there to do it.

5) after you do this to both sides you can take out the mesh grill and put the corner of it against each of the side peices so you can use the max. amount of the mesh. then you can use anyway you want to attach the grill to the insert but be aware of two things. that the clips have to go back thru so DONT over that section up or you will have to do alot of putting up and takeing down. just cut a nice square section out for the clips so they wont have any trouble.
i did this to both sides and put a screw or two in the clip after it was back in the bumper to make sure they wouldnt come out.

6) take and put the big peice of mesh against the posts and have the posts about a square or two in from the edge of the mesh. cut to fit and use nuts on at least two of the posts that will screw on nicely with out backing off easily. this is just a protectant so you dont loose it "IF" it does come loose. (itll only really come loose if you hit a bird or something like that to kock it loose but not with the nuts it wont come off easily maybe just bend if hit)

7) after you have this lovely work completed for this insert, you can now take it and crawl back under the car and put it back into place. make sure that the mesh will not hit anything before you shove it back on or you will get pissed.

8) once you are finished with that and you want to do the small fake vents on the side then follow these couple little steps.

9) take and use a flat head screwdriver and put it at the base of the black insert to pop it out of the vent. its only held in by two little tabs and should come out fairly easy.

10) take a drill with any size bit and drill a couple holes to your liking.

11) now here is where it gets a little tricky. this is to your likeing and your likeing only. you have have this done is multi. ways. all done with a hax saw blade

11A) cut the bumper to where there is a little bit left on the top of the vent and the bottom so you can use screws like me.

11B) cut it so there is a "ring" around the vent so that when the mesh gets inserted then you can use any fasion to held it in there.

11C) cut it all away and have NO bumper there and have to take the wheelwelling off so you can get to the back of it (or even have to take the bumper off to do it) and find a way to attach it from the back side of the bumper.

12) once you have chosen your fasion then you are done with the small vents.

13) for the rear vent is a sinch for me at least. i didnt want to spend tons of time trying to figure a way to do it so i took some 2-3" screws and took a long enough peice to fit the rear (a whole single peice of mesh not individuals) and bent the mesh about 1 " or so at the top and used about 6-10 screws and screwed them to the foam that is right above the vents. easy and simple and still looks great.

14) now the simi hard part the fog lights. depending on which fogies that you get will determine how to install them. with mine they had the bracket that had one scew hole and whould hold the fogs as in picture in above #5 instruction. i used a guess on where to screw it and used ~ a 3 inch screw to screw the bracket into the foam insert. then screw the foglight onto the bracket. the tough part was reaching the screw closest to the bumper (not much room)

15) when running the wires i tucked the passanger side wire inbetween the foam and alumn. peice and then released the black insert for the front grill then stuffed it in there so it would be hidden and outta the way. then ran the wires up by the drivers headlight and back towards the fuse block. ran the wires to the cockpit the same as the boost guage wires and anyother wires that were ran from/to the enginebay to cockpit.

16) i ran the power wire to the power post in the engine bay, and grounded the grounding wire to where ever the nearest grounding spot was. put the switch for them temp. under the steering col. where the little holder thing is and called it good for now.

hahaha no its not.. it takes 5 minutes to remove. when u open the hood, there r 4 screws to take off. then under the bumper there r like 6 or 7 little plastic things to pop off. then a screw and another 2 plastic things on the tire wall. all u need is a flat head screw driver and a small wrench. once the bumper is off, you can do the custom grill what ever way u want and u dont have to be stresssed by laying under your car doing it. plus if u want to make real side vents instead of the fake ones saturn gives u then u pretty much have to take the bumper off
