How To: Boost Bypass Mod

There are many boost bypass that people have used and many people use the wrong ones hence the common misconception that the boost bypass mod does not work. The poser mods are these:

Bypass 1:Plugging the line coming from the actuator to the solenoid and leaving the solenoid nipple open to

Can you post a pic of the blower's vacuum canister please! Or explain in detail what it is.

Thanks!

The black, round, canister. On the right hand side of the blower, if you're facing the throttle body. Has two vacuum lines going in/out. It's in Alpha's pics, red circle on it. That's what actually moves the butterfly inside the blower...

The only reason you get 12ish at 6k, with the stock setup, is that the limiter is not set to a psi, it's set to an RPM. At 6k, the bypass opens x amount, I get up to about 14-15psi before I hit the limiter, and then it drops down to near 12ish...

The only difference between what he has posted, and what I did, is which part is unplugged. The result is the same. I left the line hooked in, and when the solenoid opens, it just vents to atmosphere. The whole goal, is to not let the vacuum canister fill....

Oh well, I guess my version is wrong. I just wish I had some evidence to prove it...

I am not saying what you did doesn't work. You have emperical data to back it up and a pretty graph. I don't have a dyno to experment with (like you), nor do I have a lot of runs at the track(like alpha).

I just have a razor blade, a couple of the black male - male hose adapters (to put back together cut hoses), and a streight run of highway that I can (somewhat safely) take the car to redline on third. And this is a butt dyno in every sence of the phrase...

There should be no difference in what he's describing, and what I'm describing. Your goal is to stop the vacuum canister from allowing the bypass to operate... I left it plugged into to solenoid, cause I wasn't sure where the car reads boost from. This way, the car thinks everything is in order.

Seems like both of you guys have a working mod. Same concept too. My question is this, over time of leaving the line plugged, Can that be bad of your engine, or is it not a threat whatsoever?

I wouldn't leave it like that all the time. That's just me though. At the strip, or if one of your buddies 'calls you out'. It's a quick mod for a few hp.

EVERYONE REMEMBER, I do have a smaller pulley on here. Don't expect to get some crazy gain with the stocker. I have no idea how much you might, or might not, see.

Also, this isn't MY mod. This has been floating around here for a LONG time... I think I'm the first person to document a signifigant increase with it done, however. Alpha had some track times that suggested it did work, but I don't do track times. Now, the proof is right in front of me...

I did exactly what Alpha has posted (which I found on another site) and the dyno numbers were virtually unchanged. I had 3 pulls that day, all in 4th gear (1:1) on a Dynojet dyno. The first run was right off the street, car still hot from traffic, the 2nd and 3rd were each after a 30 minute cooldown (with fans). The 1st and 2nd runs were 100% stock, the 3rd was with the boost mod.

Stock Dyno Pull

Boost Mod Dyno Pull

I'm not bursting in and saying "It doesn't work", just that it didn't seem to make any difference on my car, and the mod I did was EXACTLY like what is posted above.

For those interested, here is the link to the site I found the mod on:

Stock pulley? I hear ya man, I was the other person backing you. I think if I would have used the stock pulley, the difference would be alot less...
