How To: Boost Bypass Mod How To: Boost Bypass Mod
AlphaJaguar5
11-13-2005

There are many boost bypass that people have used and many people use the wrong ones hence the common misconception that the boost bypass mod does not work. The poser mods are these:

Bypass 1:Plugging the line coming from the actuator to the solenoid and leaving the solenoid nipple open to air
Bypass 2:Plugging the line going to the actuator from the solenoid and leaving the actuator nipple open to the air

The only correct working bypass that will let you run your car to the max is this one:

Bypass 3:Plugging the line coming from the Intake Manifold to the solenoid and leaving the solenoid nipple open to the air.

Whole Engine

Will you be as kind as alphajag and give us a photo tour of your vacuum lines?

Thanks for the post but I'm still not clear on what needs to be done (yeah I know I'm a mechanical idiot).

It sounds easy to do... is that pic the before or after (I assume before and the other are close up afters)?

So the actuator remains untouched?

Is this quick to do? Would you put it back when you go in for service?

I unhooked the line that runs between his green, and red marks. Plugged the end that was still attached to the blower's vacuum cansiter. Done and done.

Is this mod done for people w/ a CAI or people w/ a smaller pulley? I just have the intake done, so is this something I should consider doing?

It's just mod to get more power you dont need an pre-requisite mods. All the pics are afterwards and how the car should look when the mod is done. And yes you would be able to switch it back to stock in about 4 seconds if you were going in for service.(not like the techs would notice anyway)

Ok, during lunch today, I switched from spooners version to alpha's version, and I am now a believer. It will hit 14+ lbs by about 4500 in 2nd, hold until redline (don't hit the limiter, you will lose alot of boost), do a fast shift into 3rd, and all 14 lbs are still there, no need to build it up again. Seriously noticable difference...

I'm not getting this tut. Can anyone post pictures of step by step please? That would help me, and im sure a lot of other people out. Thanks

EDIT: Ok, i think i found out what to do here. I plugged the line with a golf tee. Is that cool? Is that all i need to do now or what?

Ok... ummm... I can guarantee you that what I did works... in fact, I can show you charts... not sure how you get 14+ psi, at 4500rpms, with the stock setup. Or do you have a pulley? The only reason you get 12ish at 6k, with the stock setup, is that the limiter is not set to a psi, it's set to an RPM. At 6k, the bypass opens x amount, I get up to about 14-15psi before I hit the limiter, and then it drops down to near 12ish...

The only difference between what he has posted, and what I did, is which part is unplugged. The result is the same. I left the line hooked in, and when the solenoid opens, it just vents to atmosphere. The whole goal, is to not let the vacuum canister fill....

Oh well, I guess my version is wrong. I just wish I had some evidence to prove it...
