Well basicly i'll post pics in a couple of days,But anyways a couple of weeks ago i helped Curious George customize his headlights and they look awesome.
What George did was put some black in the light to give it a really aggressive look. Step 1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees and remove all the bulbs from the light Step 2. get some aluminum foil and fold it over to make about a 8inches wide and a foot or so long sheet Step 3. put the headlights in the oven for about 15 minutes Step 4. When you pull the headlights out pop the small plastic tabs and pull on the lens while holding on to the back!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok 1..2..3... PULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now it may take a few good pulls but, if the headlight gets cool put it back in the oven for about 5 more minutes Step 5. with the headlight apart just do what you want to it but if you want to keep the chrome be careful not to touch it with your hands or fingers because the oil in your skin will take off the chrome Step 6. Now when you're ready to put the headlights back together be sure to slightly put the lens on the headlight now stick the headlight back in the oven for about 10 minutes pull the headlight out and push the headlight together to get a real good seal.for a really good seal repeat the step over about 3-4 times. Other wise you have the risk of letting moisture in the head light and then you'll have to repeat the entire process until you get a proper seal. Step 7. Viola! you're done now go and enjoy the new custom look of your headlights When you're done post some pics to show the others your work |

Here...
Sorry about the glare but surely you get the jist. Once you get the housing apart you can remove the part that is painted black so as to only paint that peice. Unfortunately the DTRL portion (yellow bulb) is connected so tape that off.
yahoo photos So what do you think? Last edited by Cole : 03-17-2006 at 07:12 PM. |

lookin good...
cole, thanks for the pics. I know i saw this on here b4 a while ago. dunno. Can you get a pic of then at night with the lights on? Im really skeptical about puttin anything in the oven that I want on the car... too much room for error. BTW you gotta take off the corner "hazzard" lights pannels, light coat of nightshade and the black RL looks so much hotter....
thanks again. |

I just used the Krylon Fusion. It supposedly bonds to plastic better than any other paint. I wanted to black out the side markers and the tails but just haven't got to it yet. One of the local SS guys just did his headlights and he said they turned out great. I haven't had a chance to see them yet. The only thing is, I guarantee that your lights will fog up the first night you put them back on. But that's ok, it lets you know where to apply more epoxy. Also I used a tooth pick to PUSH the epoxy into the crevices to reseal the lights. I have no fogging. Same happened with the SS guy, I told him how to fix it and he said it fixed it. Also I get some night shots for you tonight. |
