Update On Accident

Well it happened at an intersection. I was going straight. There was a lady in a black ford focus who was behind me back about a car. I guess she got impatient and didnt wanna wait, so she floored it and went into the lane to her right, which was is a *right turn only* lane. She went straight instead of turning right like she was supposed to do. she cut into my lane in the middle of the intersection, and i basically did a pit manuver on her. I hit her back driver side door, with my front passenger side bumper. she did a 180, then slammed into my front driver side bumper. she would have done at least a 360 if i wouldnt have stopped her spin. her momentum pushed my car right, and i flew onto the sidewalk, and stopped literally 2 inches before the lightpost. Dont know how my tire didnt pop, but luckily it didnt. car is drivable, and no one was injured.

We stopped and exchanged information. cops, ems, fire was on the scene. but left because no one got hurt. The police said they dont do police reports anymore, and they gave us both forms to send in to the texas department of transportation, its like a "crash record" but i still got a case number...dunno whats up with that.

anyhow i hope that other lady doesnt lie about what happened. she had a passenger in the car, so it's basically them 2 vs 1 of me....hopefully all goes well.

dunno how much actual damage will be on my car. her car was pretty messed up. her whole left side was bigtime dented in, and had missing paint and red all down her side

Just thought i'd share

That sucks man. I can't believe the cops don't do police reports on car accidents anymore, thats just stupid.
Where are you from?
But don't worry about the passenger in her car because if the insurance companies do like they did with the guy who backed it to me in the parking lot with my room mate in the car, they will not accept her passenger as a witness because they can make sure there stories are the same and stick it to you.
I'm glad everyone came out ok, though.

I live in San Antonio.

I had to fill out some blue piece of paper that was like a "crash report" so i guess that takes place of the police report, i'm not sure.

the cop did ask me what happened tho, and he typed something up in his computer and gave us both a case number. so i'm not sure what thats for if not for a police report.

i called both insurance companies to notify them. the lady hadnt called her insurance yet when i called. she has farmers so hopefully they will take care of me. i started the claim process. and i told my insurance whats up and gave my insurance her phone number and all that. so we'll see what comes out of it. farmers said an adjuster will call me on monday.

i've never been in an accident like this before, so this is all a first for me. no tickets, no nothing at all. so i guess i just have to ride it out and see where it brings me.

And yes thank god for rubbermaid lol. when i saw her car from my window i was like damn...mine must look horrible. i got out and looked at my car and i was like "ha thats it?". i thought it would have been alot worse with everything that happened

oh lol and i must point out that i never stalled the car! for some reason i pushed the clutch in, and kept it in. (go me :-p)

the lady was actually really nice. she said that she honestly didnt know that her lane was a right turn only (which i dont truly believe because she came from behind me and sped up real fast and tried to make it around me). but she asked me if i was ok, and then she asked to see my car and what damage it had on it. after everything she shook my hand and said that shes glad non of us were hurt. she also told me that if she really is at fault then thats all there is to it and that shes not even gonna try to get out of it.

i talked to her about 4 or 5 days after the accident on the phone, and we spent about 20 minutes on the phone. she updated me of all the details that her insurance told her, and she told me all of the estimates on her car (over $4000), and that her car wasnt even working right anymore and that it shuts off and has a constant CEL. she also said that if the insurance is trying to twist the story around or they dont believe something that i say that i am welcome to call her and she will back me up if need be.

so all in all i lucked out very much because she seemed like a very nice and very responsible individual, just a crappy driver lol
