hey check out my e-cutout

finally got around to installing it today, had a friend weld it in place on my 3" zzp downpipe, which I am now catless (by choice cause there was plenty of room). finished tonight, took some pics and a crappy video.

but let me tell you, this thing is the loudest thing i have ever heard in my life. my friend across town heard me lol. opens and closes in 4 seconds, 3", and when i do it real quick it kinda sounds like my "car's got some gas" lol all in all, i love this thing.

pics

video with windows up (crappy i know)

yep, i'm having that problem too lol.
as for a ticket, i'm hoping never to deal with that *knock on wood* but i can see a cop bending under my car going "what is that flange". i'm currently in the process of building a shield for it, so you can't see it.

I rode in a Cobalt with an electric cut out. It was loud!

When I was installing my dp my brother talked me into starting the car with just the manifold installed to the engine. Now I know why they call them mufflers....

You should dyno with it closed and with it open to add fuel to the '3 inch exhaust is too much' debate. Getting rid of all backpressure would give some interesting info.

"The purpose of the exhaust cutout is to bypass the remaining exhaust system after the point at which the cutout is installed. When you bypass the remaining exhaust system you are making it easier for the engine to get rid of the exhaust. Therefore, you will gain horsepower and torque by making it easier for your engine to work. The factory exhaust system is restrictive and holds back the full potential of it."

Basically it reduces the amount of back preasure in the exhaust system. It will usually allow for the highest peak hp numbers at high rpms. But you will give up low end tq.

So its a trade off. Low end tq that gets you moving OR higher hp numbers for the dyno?
