Temporary Solenoid Cover & Clean Pics

Hey guys, I fabbed a quick cover for the solenoids and cleaned up the wiring in time for Nopinationals. Once I get back I'll look into designing the final hiding box for everything. Also took a few shots of her after being washed and waxed.

Clean = Good

Car looks good. Just a question, why didn't you go any bigger if you bought different rims? And any plans for any other visual upgrades, or do you like the normal Ion looks, or I should say, being seen as just a normal Ion?

didn't want to go larger than 15's to be honest, I'm not a huge fan of larger wheels. These are already 15x7 so the footprint is fine. They're also 11lbs a wheel. Between the low weight and reduction of rotational mass from the smaller wheel, it helps out.

Maybe, and that's a big maybe, I'll eventually put a lip kit on it, but to me that draws too much attention, and takes away from the stock body lines. I am a fan of keeping the car looking stock and clean, but with plenty of power under the hood.

Looks good Schizz
Too bad you didnt have a couple of 90's for the fuel rail and that one solenoid that force your lines vertical. Would dress it up a bit better IMO
Like the look of the total package though- clean!

Yeah I thought of that and having them punch up through the plate like the nitrous one does. Then again, it's only for Nopi, and when I get back I'm going to make it look like an emissions control box.

Thanks though Wop

That's the new Verizon "wireless" interface for the NX system's Electronic Enrichment Control System. With the optional WB02 controller AFs are logged directly to your phone, then hit the # key to enrich and the * key to lean'er out! PLUS when you hit a perfect 12.22:1 it generates a sweet "Ya Baby You Got It" ring-tone!

Must be nice to have coin to buy all all the toys
Schizz I'm sooo jealous

LOL you guys crack me up.

I actually don't have a ton of money, but I have enough disposable income to get away with modding my car and my wife's car. It did take me some time to get all the stuff together and install too. I'm very happy with it so far.

Just debating on when to throw in the 75 shot jets.

Before you do, you might want to consider a Boost-A-Pump amplifier (either Kenne-Bell or MSD) as well as performing the 12 gage AWG fuel pump rewiring upgrade. I posted the instructions and schematics on here somewhere.

I've done a few ECOTECs now this way (Cavis, Sunfires, IONs) with a 75 shot and with these mods you can actually start off at WAY rich running the pump at 20-22 volts at WOT and then work your way back. (the voltage/current ramping is fully adjustable) You dont even need injectors as it will obviously affect your "wet-shot" fuel delivery rate as well! But beg, borrow or steal a decent portable WBO2 before your first WOT run though (or dyno WB) as on one we did the FP itself had mechanical "issues" due to fuel contamination and he burnt her down on his second pass. Bad part was we missed noticing all the crap in his tank when we pulled the tank unit out to do the rewire, but... oh well.

Oh wow, no kidding, that's pretty good to know.

What car was this on though? I know it's still an ecotec, but the fact that it's got different engine management still makes me think that what worked for a J Body might not work for us, or at least in the same way. Is the fuel pump the same unit? I might look into one of those amplifiers for the hell of it. I wish I had a WB02 also, still waiting for a good chunk of change to come in and someone to have one on sale. I do know that my current a/f goes from 13.1 to 12.8 at WOT from my last dyno run, so it's where I want it to be for now.

Thanks for the info though, I'll definitely look into this further.
