Arrow Red Line Driver in the Making

Hi there!

I was taking some groceries out of the back seat yesterday, and because of the rain, I temporarily transferred my precious bundle of joy and his carrier to the driver seat. I had a big when he immediately started reaching for the steering wheel with both hands; in fact, I actually had to give him a substatial yank to get him to let go when it was time to go inside . Anyways, here's some pictures that I took. I think he looks pretty cute with the Saturn Red Line cap that I just picked up.

We generally use our Vibe for family travel, but I like to take the baby for a ride in the Ion when possible. He's pretty happy when the car is accelerating or taking a corner, but hates it when I come to a stop. Perhaps the plastic panels won't have rusted too badly when he gets his license in 15.5 years.

Anyone else have pictures of their loved ones that they wish to share?

I should have gotten that option--the bottle holder on the left side. Would really help with my little boy. I'll have to get some pics with him in the car soon. It always amazes me to see what he can sleep through. Always cracks me up to see him slumped forward in his car seat just hanging there, out like a light. I'll have to snap a pic soon for y'all.

That third pic, he has the "wanna race?" look. I love it! Cute kid

Now don't race with him in it!

And if the wife finds out, I don't wanna be w/ in 50 miles of you two

Yes, as a matter of fact, I do have the Side Curtain Airbags. Even though I don't have any other options, I did make the sure that the SIAB (Side Impact Airbag) option was a priority. I'm also glad that the vehicle comes with ABS brakes.

I actually bought the Ion because my wife was pregnant and I didn't want her to be stranded without a vehicle while she was on maternity leave. I suggested getting one of the new minivans, which she promptly vetoed, so in essence, the Red Line is a family vehicle.

As for loading the baby in and out of the vehicle, I've found it to be fairly easy without the B-Pillar getting in the way. Things that I would consider when picking a Baby Seat are the limited space between the front and rear row (especially for rear facing), and the width of the base. You may have to move your seat forward a little bit and improve your posture (i.e. stop slouching).

I've found that the rear-facing base that I have is pretty easy to install, but the larger forward facing seat is more difficult because of the size of it's footprint.

thats when you build a custom racking that can go on the back of the back seat and have a strap that can hunker that back seat down tighter and have the baby seat side into the racking you just built and then you wont have to mess up your leather and if the kid makes a mess then its on the back carpet side of the seat

Do you have the forward or rear facing seat? I too have noticed that my son does look pretty funny with his head rolled forward. He prefers to travel at highway speed to being stopped; perhaps it's the sound of the engine or the vibration.

Actually, I told her about a short but spirited jaunt to the posted speed limit that I had alongside a Mazda yesterday. She asked if we won and actually seems pretty okay with it as:
a) I'm not in the habit of being wreckless (1st time)
b) The baby, who we absolutely adore, is obviously fine
c) She's pretty cool that way and has to be one of the most understanding women in the world

My forward facing car seat fits just fine with room for a passenger up front. Again, rear seat space and safety were two major reasons I opted for the RL over the SRT. Oh and that blower instead of the hair dryer helped too
