Well, screw that then haha.

I got excited for a second there. Seemed like a neat alternative to the comp. package ladder tach.

Never mind

I wonder if anyone makes a daytime visible HUD. I know some Pontiacs/vettes have them. They visible in daylight? I've never seen one.

I'm not sure..if I remember right the Plasmaglow one came with a thing that said that sunlight'd damage the projector or something of the sort. Might get Zfactor in here to talk about it, cause I remember him from that thread.

Hey, yeah, that was me. I was pretty pissed when I found out that you can only use it at night, and I am honestly thinking of taking it out. It does look pretty cool at night, but I have never drag raced before (presumably when I would use it) so I am looking for something a little more functional. A little while ago (after I bought the plasmaglow), I found one made by Defi link. I would post the link, but my internet is EXTREMELY slow right now and I can't seem to open up another window. They have two different models, the lower line is called the "VSD Basis", and I can't remember the name of the higher end one, but it is definitely the one you would want if you are looking for tach info, speed, and shift point. Maybe I will get it some day, but right now I am more interested in speed.

Oh, here we go:

http://www.defi-shop.com/product/con...ncept_top.html

It's called the "VSD Concept". It looks to be a quality product, but I haven't contacted them to get all the specs. Plus, I am a little gunshy of putting something else in, with all the trouble that the Plasmaglow took. However, it does look pretty nice, more along the lines of what you see in the Vettes and Pontiacs, and you can use it during the day.

Looks pretty sweet. Found it online for a little under $300.

Something to consider, at least.

Was that the "basis" or the "concept"? Did it include the control unit? The basis is on Ebay all the time, but not really worth it IMO.

About $300 was for the concept and control unit.

Quick serach of ebay for the Basis shows it about $170. I'd rather get the comp. ladder tach. Or save my money toward a stage kit

My dad's '99 Grand Prix GTP has the HUD (came with the car) and it's nice to have. Works day and night. Very convenient to have your speed right there in your line of sight, yet unobtrusive. It also shows the radio stations when you use the steering wheels radio controls. It shows other things too but it's been quite a while since I drove it so I can't recall what else it shows. I've done 3 hour trips in that car and never had to look down at the instrument cluster.
