So my wheels are Flat Black now. . .

So today I decided to paint my wheels Flat Black.. Took a bit of work, but with a friend we got it done in about 2.5 hours.. And it turned out damn nice.. Was a bit scary at first when I first took the sand paper to the polished aluminum, but I must say it looks tons better.. IMHO

You have the same sticker tower as Alpha and have a mess up on the transmission too.

The rims look great though.

Looks great. Now you just gotta do the center caps and lug nuts to finish it off.

wow that looks really nice! Now you need to lower it! It will look 10x better if it were a little lower!

What kind of paint did you use? It looks super clean!

Thanks guys! It was actually really simple.. Just go easy with the Spray can.. I got the idea from Oh crap, I cant think of his name.... I know he posts here.. Damnit he's gonna kill me! LOL ANyways... Here are the directions for people who wanna do this themselves..

1. Make sure you have plenty of daylight(Takes about 3hrs)
2. Duplicolor High temp Flat gloss Engine Enamel(Get it at pepboys-autozone)
3. 180 Grit fine Sandpaper (Again get it a Pepboys or Autozone)
4. Very good Wheel cleaner(Your preference just make sure it works!)
5. Some microfiber towels to wipe the debris off the wheel after sanding

Okay do all the obvious stuff first, like take the wheel off the car etc...Hopefully you have jackstands cause it will make it a lot easier... After taking off the wheel, make sure to pop out the little center pieces unless you plan on painting them ton, then clean it really damned good, like 5 times the normal car was good. When your done cleaning the wheel (now comes the scary part). Take the sand paper and go to town on the wheel. Make sure to get all the groves, and nooks and crannies. Once it looks pretty roughed up (Not shiny anywhere on the wheel) take the microfiber towel and wipe up all the wheel debris and make sure to get it all. Once this is done grab the spray bottle and make even light coats, make sure not to spray too much in once place otherwize it will drip and look really crappy... Repeat till the wheel is black! And viola! Your done.... I know this write up sucked.. But hey....oh well! Oh and I almost forgot, here is a pic of what the wheel will look like when its in process, dont be scared when the shine is gone!

i did it first peeps :-D he stole my idear! blah. anyways, i wouldn't use 180 grit, something a lot higher, or the body prep scotchbright. any hight temp engine enamel would work, the duplicolor looks really good tho.
