Saturn Sky REDLINE

6 months after the production of the Saturn SKY, GM will introduce a Saturn SKY Redline, which will be powered by a turbocharged 253HP 2.0L Ecotec engine. Can you say Miata eater?

Full-Size Trucks:

With the rollout of the next generation full-size trucks, GM will be revamping its Vortec 6000 engine. The new 6.0L will produce 400HP and 400lb/ft of torque (strangely similar to the LS2, no?). The 6.0L will be in the next generation of Cadillac Escalade, EXT, ESV, GMC Yukon Denali, Denali XL, GMC Sierra Denali and Chevrolet Silverado SS Supercharged.

now, they say it's going to be 253 horses. I wonder if that's gonna be underrated like ours b/c that's about what the ION RL is at the crank (approx.)

Too bad the Sky doesn't have the polymer body panels. That would really save on wieght. The S-Series was extraordinarily light w/ those body panels. I think the polymer body panels would be sick on the Sky, really help w/ the power:weight and really help tear up those S2000s.

I really don't think the panels weigh that much less, have you ever held one in your hands? When I smashed my SC2, I was at the body shop, and picked one up. Then picked up a piece of sheetmetal they had there, and I couldn't tell the difference...

That must have been some thin ass sheet metal. Saturn pannels are extremely light.

take it with a grain of salt, that isn't official info, andhas been around for a while. though it could be true, don't count on it.

Then why dosen't the Cobalt weigh 1000 lbs more than us? In fact, why do we weigh the same as an Impreza without the AWD? If the plastic is lighter, then they sure as hell better stop adding weight to our frames...

The ION is a heavy car for a Saturn to begin with. The weight must be elsewhere on the car, who knows where, becuase it's definately not in the pannels. Newer GM cars have do seem to have thin sheetmetal on them, the Cobalt does from what I've seen. I've got some spare poylmer Saturn pannels lying around, and they seem a lot lighter than metal pannels to me.
