It's too bad the panels are going away regardless. I was just reading an article on how more and more of the Japanese and European auto companies are starting to develop polymers panels for future use. Good job GM, way to go backwards from the competition again...

a AWD imprezza should have 200ish pounds on the Ion Redline

if it really needs to be proven I can make calls and hit up the grain scale

the problem GM has with them is the CRAPPY fitment issues from gross temperature changes in teh US, that asia doesnt deal with, being islands and coasts and all they generally have more mild climates

if they fitted the ploymer real right they would crack in winter from expanding and pushing on each other

The 'official' numbers say 400 lbs.

My point, was the fact that even if the polymer panels weigh a little less, there's no difference in the weight from our cars with them, to the Cobalt without them. The article I read stated that THE biggest problem that all the areas are having is fit issues. Like you said, or meant to say, the panels expand in the summer and shrink in the winter. If you live in a place with a BIG climate change, here in Chicago you get a 100+ degree difference from summer to winter, and you can see the difference. In the summer, the car looks 'tighter', and in the winter it looks looser and I think you can hear the panels rattle more.

I do not know if I am going to get a SKY or a REDLINE SKY. I wonder if they will offer the REDLINE version in an automatic?
