The Vauxhall Lightning Concept was intended for Saturn from day one, releasing it under the Vauxhall nameplate kept the press clueless for that much longer until Saturn dropped the bomb and showed the production version. I worked for Saturn at the time, and we all knew about it as soon as the concept was shown.

The Opel GT is the "afterthought" if anything is - but even that lateral move was planned from the begining, as Saturn does not export to Europe. Easy fix - slap an Opel badge on it, 'cuz Opel's aren't sold here. Getting it form Europe? Um - nope. The "Opel" is built in Wilmington, Deleware, right along with the Solstice and the Sky, and is shipped across the pond. If GM is planning to bring Opel back to the States, the Sky is not part of that plan, lol. If anything, it would be part of getting Saturn to Europe, though I've heard absolutely no mention of that, either.

I would have, 'cept Saturn's main site doesn't have any info on the SRL price press release. So now I'm wondering where Saturnfans got the info...

I wouldn't hold that as 100% truth. That is the same site that announced months back the RL SKY was going to have the LSJ.

That wasn't months back, that was like probably 2 years ago. It's been pretty well assumed that the SRL would be turbo'd for over a year now. Yeah, I'm not taking it as absolute, but I'll be surprised if it's wrong, or off by much. The price looks just about right for the package.
