If this gives the HP that is implied, for me, this would be a good upgrade at the point where I need to rebuild the motor and upgrade the internals (100K or whatever).

Otherwise, it's still a lot of money and IMO some of the internals are going to balk at it.

Time will tell. Who's the first guinea pig?

In order to compare apples to apples you should look at the expected price of Hahn's LSJ turbo conversion kit compared to Harrops TVS Conversion. Like I said, the twinscrew blower itself is roughly $2k iirc, and you don't swap blowers like people do turbos. Usually, one swap to a unit that will flow what you want, and then you use the modular pulley system, which seems easier to me than swapping out turbo's for more airflow.

With the efficiency of the new blower compared to the old M62 unit, it's also a big win. That and, how long does it take you to take off the M62, 10 mins? How long would it take to bolt on the TVS if it really is a complete bolt on unit, another 10-15 mins? So you're looking at what, half hour tops for this conversion, compared to how long with a turbo setup? That and most people on this board could swap the blower, but how many could successfully install a turbo conversion without having a professional do it?

And if you really want to get picky, upgrading a blower is far cheaper, since we can just swap pulleys to get more boost. ;-)
Ok, well hypothetically if we owned SRT4s, we wouldn't have to factor in an upfront cost.

Ok, maybe everyone got lost in my thinking out loud. Is it cheaper for a turbo application to upgrade to a larger turbo than for a blown application to upgrade SC's?

That's why we own Saturns though, everything is about cost, duh.

Sometimes. Some people though don't only upgrade turbo's once *cough eric cough* but most people who upgrade or install blowers (outside of centi blowers) only do it once, and change pulley size to increase the airflow. Back to my main point though, was that most people are going to buy "kits" instead of piecing together a kit themselves, and in that case, upgrading the blower will be cheaper than converting to turbo.

We'll see which component proves to be superior.

I haven't really heard of issues with any Eaton design before, from when it was released to old.
