LOL, this is all BS. I know someone whose friend tried this, and he had to PAY to get a sponsorship. Also, its for garbage like underglow and frigging window tassels and crap.

Different league man. National television [and in F1's case huge International] versus what is usually just local.

You should never have to pay to be sponsored but comparing local people to huge events is retarded. You think Marlboro has anything to do with racing or Ferrari? Not one bit, it's just huge advertising.. and they are not even allowed to have their name on the vehicle!
