I took a good, long look at the 06 today. As you noted rather than the blue treads on the Recaro's the cloth is grey (I actually like the older color better myself). The other two differences I could see were that fog lamps are standard fare and not a part of the Comp. package, and that the plastic OnStar gadget protuberance is standard on the roof. Otherwise they look just like my wife's 05.

ya the steareo is also changed. at least 4 the face plate set up. u get that one with the big knob. the chevys already got it. and it is also the one in the sky. so the skys steareo is also the ions. 4 a pic go to http://www.chevrolet.com/montecarlo/photogallery/ and hit the interior and theres the steareo faceplate

Plus the 06s get Passenger Presence Detection for the airbag system. This will only deploy the passenger bag if someone greater than about 65lbs is sitting there.
The lamps are annoying though

???? no i don't have that.... or atleast i don't have the little display for it in my center councole like the regular ions do... i thought i was gunna have that for mine to then i notice nothing is their... it's just a little shelf in-dent... anyway i've been driving my 06 around now for about 3 weeks... love it so much.. especially the comp package.. man do i love being on LSD.. the seats i didn't like at firast but after awhile they grow on ya... it makes the interior more uniform and not so bright in one section and dark in the other... plus the stere is pretty nice.. i got the basic stereo since i'm re-doin the entire system this winter and the thing sounds ok stock

oh and i'm super happy i got an 06... i'm not seeing anything good from the designes i've seen of the 07.. lets just say i would rather buy a scion then a freakin 07 ion

Does the stereo operate the same as the monte carlo? Cuz that looks really hot.

As a side note, I noticed on a price list at saturnfans that ABS/Traction Control was a $400 option on the '06... Any truth to that? (boy would that be nice for winter)

Hmm, I see no indication that it's "optional" in any way for the 06 ION, but perhaps it will end up being an early/late build thing when it comes to the Redline. (As I know the "roll-over" to the 06 model Redlines was a bit of a fiasco with most early builds being identical to the 2005 models) Do you have the new seats and radio? What about OnStar??

i have new seat colors... same seats tho and yes i have the new radio... and yes i have onstar.... and as a side note on star kick ass i love it and now want it all the time... it's prolly the best thing GM ever did

On star is cool and all, but I think that the Corvette would have to be top that list.
Actually everyone I've talked to that has OnStar said it was pretty cool. I even had customers who used to use it as a conseirge service (ordering show tickets, etc.)

yea u can do that plus get live score updates on games.. news. stock quotes... and the best part it has a built in phone so people can call my car or i can call them and all i have to do is press 1 button to do it.. voice reignition is awsome
