If they do follow throguh with it, it will likely happen in 08. That's when the Ion is scheduled for redesign. The would have to retool the plant in Spring Hill for metal stamping and other equipment, and they have not done this yet nor is it happening soon to my knowledge.

GM is not going to spend the money to switch out the tooling in that plant just for the new models (or whoever owns that plant). The last I heard, '08 is when they are switching everything out from the plastic. When they do this, no more Spring Hill. They'll be building the new designs at a different plant. I'm not sure which one, but it's not going to be Spring Hill. I forgot where I read this, I will look it up if you people don't believe me.

Confirmed today that 06 models ARE using an updated version of the F35 transaxle that have those release springs in the syncros (as per "gear rattle" bulletin) AND includes an internal speeds sensor (instead of the one on the RH intermediate shaft)
