Well, since new Redlines are hard to find (and I suck at manuals) I'll "try" to get this instead. Having a 3.6 V6, high torque at low RPM, and a 6 speed auto with shift control sounds nice.

June 19, 2008: My car will have 1 year left to pay off and my credit score will be very good.

I spoke to a few of the guys down at Saturn of Escondido (California, San Diego) and they confirmed that there was no performance package currently in the works for any of the 08/09 lineup minus the Saturn Sky Redline.

Looks like the 07' Ion Redline might be the last performance model we see from saturn in awhile.

Yeah, new cars that are out of production can be difficult.

I just hate the look of the GXP Street. I'd rather have the GT with the sport package.

I hope they bring over a Redline Astra, but I'm not holding my breath at this point.

I'm still hearing whispers about an AWD turbo Astra mid '08, but I won't claim to have better info than others here.

Would be nice, but is there even an AWD astra in other parts of the world with any type of power?

Yes, in Europe there is a 240 hp AWD model. EDIT: I had been told that there was a 240 hp WD model, apparantly this was untrue; I can only find info re a 200 hp FWD (still, that's be nice). Maybe it was a different Opel model that was referred to, and the cource gave the Astra name in error. Whatever - the Delta platform will support AWD, GM has th drivetrains to make it happen now, and the LNF would be a nice fit... Sell it for about what a WRX goes for with a few more ponies, and undercut the cheaper Evo with close tot he same power... Well, if they do, AWESOME, if they don't, we can always build it ourselves, lol.

Funny thing - I was annoyed that they didn't put the 3rd (and 4th, lol) doors on teh coup. Everyone I talked to hs taid the same thing. A comment was made to one of the PD guys at SEMA, and he was SHOCKED - "Seriously?! We didn't think it was a big deal, nobody in teh focus groups asked for it". When it was said that it might not have been requested because it may have been considered a given that it would be there, and that everyone we know who has seen teh 2d coor has commented on teh lack and that it was a major selling point, he got this seriously worried deer-in-the-headlights look, like seriously "oh shit", it was hilarious. He said it wouldn't be hard to add in upcoming model years, though, so we'll see...
