Question What's the deal with this stock clutch?????

It more-or-less seems to be ok on the streets, at least as far as I can tell.

But at the track with sticky slickies - ohhhh boy!!
that clutch is not happy at all!!

I had one good 'teaser' run
a 14.3 @ 97.5 with a 2.0 60'
and that was taking it easy on the launch
so i know there's much more to be wrung out of my current setup.

but as the night progressed (and I guess the clutch heated up) the runs deteriorated, started losing the clutch in 2nd gear, was the first time I had no 2nd gear at all, I had to take it out of gear first, and then it caught.

It seemed to act sproradic throughout the night.
sure could smell that clutch after a couple of those runs though....

away from the track it seems to be fine

why is that??

Because it's not meant for track use.

Well, launching at the track IS totally different than the street. 1st, you have all these sik fast cars with slicks doing burnouts and leaving melted rubber on the asphalt. When you have better traction on the tires, somethings gotta give, and that means the poor clutch. 2nd you're all excited and don't pay much attention to anything but going fast, so when it does start to slip a little, you don't feather the throttle like you should and it really starts to slip bad at that point. 3rd you have all the noise from the other car so it's hard to hear it slipping even if you were trying to do so. Just my $0.02

IMO It's the weakest mechanical piece on these cars. Clutchmasters is in my vision very soon.
