stage kit on 2004

Please don't hate on me all at once here because I KNOW that the stage kits work with the 04. My question is, has anyone actually had the reflash done to an 04 yet. My dealership is ridiculous and if they see anywhere that its only for 05-06 they will deny me and won't even research it.

On page 4 (item # 15) of the pamphlet that you get with your kit it lists the 2004 saturn ion redline calibration data file number which is - 12607646. It's listed right along with all the models and the years that this kit covers. I'm looking at the pamphlet as I type this ,so if they're to ignorant to know or research this my advice is - Take your MONEY to some one who wants it.

The most official statement that you can take to the dealer is the California Air Resources Board (CARB) exemption order available on the ARB website(www.arb.ca.gov). The exemption order is D-126-10 and it specifies the parts and model years covered. Also, I believe that there is PNs for the model and year for the flash in the instructions with the kit. You will have to check on that with someone that has received their kit.

dynoing a ricer is like beating off. it seems fun at the time, but theres really no point.

I was reflashed TWICE, last week. The first time there was an issue with the boost actuator not working properly, so they put it back to stock and reflashed it again...now it works, although I'm missing some boost (I think).

Curious to see your boost numbers before/after the reflash.

What you are describing would be IMPOSSIBLE unless they plain out didnt do the reflash correctly on the first pass (and just put in the stock calibrations in error) IF the reflash was successful the first time, redoing it would have made no changes to the boost bypass control function.

I've got the reflash on my 2004. I agree with Badanthony, go to a different dealership.

I dunno - all I know is while scanning the car on the dyno, the duty cycle would never go above 75% or so, and after we got the car off the dyno and back to the shop, they reflashed it and voila, 99% duty cycle...I don't pretend to understand most of this stuff, just go with what I saw and what I was told.

The % duty cycle delivered by the PCM depends on a number of input factors. There could be a great many explainations for what you observed. But the reflash wouldnt be one of them.

Perhaps this has something to do with my now infamous "missing boost"? Lines have been check, re-checked, and checked again...no leaks. Probably going to replace some or all anyway, but short of that, I'm stumped - Saturn's stumped.
I'm making 12# AFTER the reflash, which is what I was running BEFORE the reflash with the STOCK pulley. The only variables changed are the reflash and the BF 3.15" pulley.

Why dont you try clamping the actuator rod with a small vise-grips so the valve wont ever open- then see what your boost does. Have you ever messed around with the valve actuator adjustment? Is so maybe loosen it and move it DOWN as far as it will move to make sure the valve is closed.

HTH
