Head Unit Install Question

There's a braided line w/ a female blade connector that plugs into the stock unit.

What's it for, and what did you guys do w/ it?

let it hang or try to splice it in with the black wire in your new wiring kit

Is there any added sound benefit to splicing it in? The stock head unit has a lot of alternator whine.

I had an Alpine in my/your RL and just unhooked the wire without any problems. I guess you could splice it into the radio ground but I dont think its necessary.

So I finally realized that RDS vehicles require a special harness... but it still doesn't work.

What am I missing here?
