CEL Light on brand new Car!!!!

I just picked up an 06 With comp package Pacific Blue.Had to drive 100 miles to get it. Drove from Milwauky Wis to chicago Ill no CEL car pefect.Cruise around last night CEL comes on. Take it to the dealership today because my dad's a saturn tech get's a rich condition code for the cat.Resets light drive car normal and the light comes back on again tonight. Iwas wondering if anyone with an 06 has had this problem and what fixed it? Also you guys who have had your car for awhile did you beat on it in the first 500 miles,because i have alittle bit mis a shift or 2 here and my dad said i shouldn't beat on it until 500 miles have passed. So i was wondering if you guys did beat on it did the car turn up fine in the long run?

Alot of people beat on it right out the door, it's not a bad idea to take it easy for a couple hundred miles...

CEL huh? I assume the car is stock? Rich code huh? That's odd...

89 miles on a '06 Comp today. No codes, hit rev limiter once, driving up and down the RPM band never holding it steady for a few minutes. Running 0 to 85 MPH. Staying under 4000 RPM mostly. 30 minutes driving, cool down for an hour and then drive again. Zero codes.

Well I don't know it's either a clogged air cleaner which I'm gonna check bad injectors or bad o2. We'll have to see on monday I'll keep you guys posted.

I have about 1300 miles on 06 now. I have had no problems. I took it relatively easy the first 500 miles. Did have a few quick starts (just to check it out) after about 200 miles. I am astounded at the cornering it can do now that I'm more used to it and can push it harder in tight turns. Good luck getting the problem fixed.

I bet the CEL came on right when you crossed from WI to Ill.

That code seems to be the opposite of most CEL's we all have had.
Some people on here would give their left nut for a rich code.
If the car is that new, you have plenty of time to get it looked at and fixed for free.

Hey fineline sorry about the spelling and in fact i bought it at the Waukesha dealership. Just one Q's for everyone were does your temp gauge sit when the car is fully warmed up? mine sit's below the half way mark so if eeverybody else's sit's in the middle i'm thinking a thermostat may be the culprit.

mine sits under half mark no matter how hard i drive it and i have 5000 miles on my 05 and i drove the shit out of it right from the start
