Rims...what to do.

A local tire shop told me that they'll replace all 4 of my rims because they scratched them. I just can't seem to find anything light and forged. They offered to powdercoat or refinish the rims I have, or give me the 600 bucks it would cost to have that done. I'm looking for opinions on this one please.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. By "replace", will they order something for you? I doubt they would have anything with our particular bolt pattern.

PS do a search on "bolt pattern" in the forum, it's been discussed a few times.

They scratched all four of 'em?

If you like the rims stock you should just make them buy you some new ones from Saturn.

Or, if you were planning on powdercoating them, now is your chance to get it done for free.

As far as aftermarket rims go, you have very little selection.

I personally like the chrome stock look on my car for now. Who knows, that may change in the future.

I've been searching for rims for about 3 months now and I know it's been discussed to death on here. I found 26 sets at tirerack but they're all butt ugly and heavy as hell. I want a new set of aftermarket rims, that way I can keep my winter shoes on the stockers but I'm running out of patience at this point. I know that some manufacturers said that they will have our obscure bolt pattern available in the "spring". I hope that BBS gets off their asses and makes some RE's in our size. I guess I'm just tired of looking at huge scratches on all 4 of my once shiny rims. I'd hate to pass on free rims but it seems like it'll never happen.

Dude, I'm getting mine powder coated for under $200, plus the cost of dismounting and remounting the tires...take the $600...get yours powder coated (doing mine in dark grey, the car is black), and have a decent time with the leftover money!

It looks good but I haven't been able to find a weight yet. At like 200 bucks a wheel, I imagine that they're pretty heavy.

It's a local guy in Lansdale - I hooked up with him through my tuner shop dude (the guy who built my son's race motor and his putting it in) - contact me offline (valleyautomotive@yahoo.com) and I'll give you the contact info.
