Seat rotation.

Since the most, if all, front seat wear is on the outboard bolsters has any body tried switching them. Yes i know you cant just take them out and swap them. I mean is it possible to change the tracks between the two of them?

Seats come out easy enough to check. Two bolts on the rear and lean them forward. I have no idea.

car seats are normally not interchangable, i work for Johnson Controls, and passenger frames, and drive seat frames are different. u will not be able to switch all the handles, seat belts, and w/e else is side specific to the otherside. its just how the seats are made. u may not even be able to switch the tracks, the seats i build have the tracks welded on.

You can't really swap the whole seat as K-Train noted, but the bottoms cushions are interchangeable. The foam and upholstery are mounted on a sheet metal pan that attaches to the seat frame with 4 small bolts. They are the same right and left, and in fact the Recaro pans are the same as regular Ion except for some extra tubes welded to support the side bolsters. You can install the Recaro bottom cushions on regular Ions and vice-versa.

You might be able to just swap the lower seat upholstery.

That seams extremly plausible, and really solves the problem, because most of the wear is on the lower seat. Although, at least on mine, the upper bolsters get a little wear too

I have been wondering about this before. Nice to see the bottoms can be swapped, that's where i see the most wear too.

I had my lower driver's seat apart last summer. I didn't like the way the angle of the seat felt flat. All I ended up doing was putting in some longer bolts, and using some washers to space up the front of the lower seat. It feels much better now. Anyways, I just want to warn you that under there, the seat frame has some sharp edges. Be careful when going in there.

I wonder... can you order just the bottom upholstery from Saturn or Recaro?
